Ahhhh… so there could be picnicing before the ride.
Number 4 son can scoff a Gregg's sausage roll in the trailer. The other two would need to stop. I'm a wee bit worried about them careering down the hill towards the parliament.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

If I get any bollocks 'advice' from the rozzers at PoP about hi-viz and helmets, I won't be a happy bunny.
@bax. You had better steer clear of our 3 year old then! He has a right bee in his bonet about cyclists without helmets... :-)
Point him in Kim's direction. :D
I would bring the monstrousbike, but it tends to be happiest going 40mph, rather than 4mph, and needs to do 3-point turns everywhere.
@DaveC
i've had that one before...
mummy, why is that man not wearing a helmet...
We may be going mountain biking beforehand and heading straight to POP, in which case we can be covered in armour plate and grime.
How are we getting the headcount, incidentally - not relying on LBP I hope?
@arellcat still got the windcheater?
"How are we getting the headcount"
Some patient persons presumably.
Will certainly confuse CEC's counter on MMW!
I've suddenly become free tomorrow, and have been relieved from painting duties to cycle across and join in (hurrah).
I shall also be invisible, but have acquired a large green and black hat/dragon combination to avoid being completely unnoticed. Is there a meeting point for CCE folk who have no other friends...?
"Is there a meeting point for CCE folk who have no other friends...?"
Clearly that is a flawed concept - though the underlying intent is good.
Quite a few will be rushing around looking/being busy. Some will be leading rides in.
There will definitely be lots of people there. Perhaps 10% (?) - though many will be with 'non' members.
Perhaps you could find your way to the sundial pillar (Tollcross end of Meadows) and see if anyone 'rescues' you.
ETA??
Twitter might help.
I'll be around, look out for the white ladies giant with purpley/pink flowers attached to the basket, lion rampant flags either side of the pannier rack and a tall edn bike co-op yellow pennant that has been modified so the central star is red and the cog has pedal on parliament written round it.
I'll have blue balloons on a black cross bike.
Min I might need you!
Just been checked out on the Pino, great fun but think I need some one fast and light to make me look good. :-D
Darkerside, I will also be invisible on a yet-to-be-decided machine. I can stop by the sundial on my way.
Winter bike needs a new gear cable, so I'll be on the anonymous tourer. "Pot belge" wool top (mainly black; red & yellow hoops); possibly an old ACF* cap visible somewhere too.
If organised I may have some cake :)
* - means something to some peeps here

Would it involve wearing a panda costume? :-P
Number 2 son not well and my mum called offering a spare ticket for Mendelssohn in Glasgow in the evening. The plan is still to bring boys 3 and 4.
Black Brompton S6L, red/grey Bell trailer, Revolution Cairn.
Likely to be wearing Craghopper kit and an olive Tilley hat.
@min i'm sure it could be arranged! :-D
Some people are dropping by Laid Back Bikes after 12. We have lots of card boxes if that's required.. The Pastures does some good food. Not vegan or glutten free AFAIK though.
A handful of postcards that can be handed out left here.
Recumbents - Darkersider with Fuego. Rugtomcat same. (I saw him at shop today then he went away...) I'll be on similar as it has a kick stand and I expect they'll be lot of standing around.
Rabid Hamster will have an ICE trike. Arellcat on a Brompton(?) That's about it maybe...
The public will hate us whatever we ride!
I'd predict three 'bents in one place is such an oddity that it'll form a natural gathering point for lost CCE lambs.
I know I found LaidBack at the St. Andrews House protest largely because of his recumbence.
In other news, I predict a shortage of gingo-bearded men on blue fixed cyclocrosses wearing marshal's sky-blue tabards, so if you see one, the safe bet is that it's me. In fact, apart from Kevin, I don't even know if there are any marshals who aren't active CCE members.
"@min i'm sure it could be arranged! :-D "
Noooooooo, you're all right! :-D
Oh, wait - Andrew from story bikes isn't on CCE. Imagine you've opened three dictionaries, one at 'urbane,' one at 'gentleman,' and the last at 'ZOMFG Rohloff Thorn tourer sexy want want want.' If there was a picture for that, it'd look like him. On his bike.
Struggled against it all evening but my vanity finally got the better of me around half 8 when I headed out to wash the bike.
Mr MeepMeep and I will be on matching red his 'n' hers bikes (I should probably be embarrassed by that!?) hoping to join up with the Polwarth feeder ride - he'll likely be wearing his grumpy "you've dragged me out of the house for exercise, woman" expression unless I've put food in his hands!
Was going to cycle over from Burntisland on the 'fancy' bike, but cold not subsided enough for a 50 mile round trip. Going to chuck the MTB in the back of the car and drive over instead, thinking about it, slow speed, lots of people, potential for sudden stopping etc, upright and flat pedals probably better than clipless.
Methinks I'll coax the Koga-Miyata out of hibernation for a rare outing.
Looking really good outside - clear and crisp, hopefully good for turnout!
Just been out to clean the bike (that's what happens when two years olds get you up at 6 o'clock). Lovely and warm in the sun, but cold in the shade.
I also rashly decided to fit new brake pads as the old ones were more worn than I remember, so if you see someone on a grey Gary Fisher MTB with squealing brakes and a whining toddler in a Hamax seat then it's probably me.
