    Call Kaye this morning:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01gw3b2/Call_Kaye_30_04_2012/

    Starts at 15:40 approx.

Salmond: "That was a hugely impressive demonstration"
"What I'll undertake to do is to get Keith Brown to meet again with the cycling associations and see how we can take this forward."

Kaye was very good, accusing ministers of "grandstanding". Well done caller 'Ian' for flagging up the demo, the POP manifesto, putting the First Minister on the spot, and for pointing to Portland as a possible model.

(Surprised SRD didn't post it here)

Important to stay united if this comes off as good to try to keep politicians paying attention to us. Important to avoid the Judean People's Front scenario.

Alex Salmond: "You're pushing against an open door here. I want to see this move forward"

Sounds like an invitation for constructive dialogue to me. Let's take Alex Salmond up on it!

Indeed if eck says the door is open we all need to get through. Would like to see him out on his bike.

Kaye suggested that he spend a month on a bike getting around as it would change the way he saw the world! I'd like to see that.

It would certainly change the way the world sees him.. Maybe stave off the heart attack in waiting..

Me too. If he rode all his journeys of 5 miles or less for a month, that would go a long way to convincing me 'a change is gonna come'!

    That is clearly VERY good.

What AS probably doesn't realise (and there is no reason why he should) is that POP28 was effectively organised by a new 'organisation' that as far as I know hasn't met Mr. Brown.

Think POP people need to do some fast 'political' footwork to make sure that there is a united front for the next meeting with the Minister which will obviously have at least one more seat than the previous one...

Harsh, David M, harsh!! ...but yes imagine what a month in the saddle might do for him. I wonder if anyone has told him of the health benefits?
