When approached by the Evening News, McKendry Coaches declined to comment, but Anne McKendry, one of the firm’s transport managers told our sister paper, The Midlothian Advertiser: “The driver never thought the wheel was loose. He thought it was a blow-out.”

Please keep any comments within the bounds of taste, decency and legal constraint...

Does kinda confirm a 'view' on here about some bus/coach companies that happen to be just outside the city's limits...

Entrusting my daughters to coach drivers is the part of school outings that causes me greatest concern. Let's just put it like that.

My mum used to use that bus company when she was a Guide leader; that's going back 10 or 20 years now though.

They were by far the cheapest, which is why they were used, but the buses were less than reliable. On one long trip the guides had to push start the bus after every service station stops.

Of course, this is all long ago, so no real relevance to the company today.
