My attempt to move two hours of afternoon meetings outside failed due to a lack of computer. Paperless meetings - the unexpected disadvantage

record the entire meeting on a smartphone - get it tped up later

Did you not have a thunder plump last night? In the Braes we heard the thunder, but stayed dry, whilst t'Other 'Alf reported downpours at Linlithgow direction. Just sounded as if it should be including Edinburgh and from the hill ( we can see all the way to the bridges from here) it looked dark all the way across to y'all.

There was torrential rain at Linlithgow last night just after 6pm (observed from the train). Lots of people wearing flimsy summer attire were making a dash a long the platform.
Dry again shortly after leaving Linlithgow.

It threatened to get bad as I was heading into Balerno but it never looked like rain let alone a good thunder storm.

Glorious weather here in Dundee. Haar keeps trying to sneak up the Tay but is soon zapped by the merciless sun.
Sweltering in the office: got in to find the windows closed and the heatring on! What kind of sadist puts heating on for a day like this? Duly switched off, windows opened. Still feels like the sweatbox from Bridge Over The River Kwai/Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.
So bad I had to escape at lunchtime. Took the wee bucking bronco folder for a pootle along the shared use path out to Invergowrie. Nice coolling breeze coming in off the Tay. Crossed paths with quite a few cyclists out enjoying the sunshine, and three Clydesdales grazing in a field. Huge beasts they were. Made it as far as Kingoodie before realising my number was up and I had to pootle back to the sweatbox.
Will shortly be heading out again, panniers and all, to traverse the Tay road bridge bound for Leuchars, where I aim to catch my train.
Photaes of the pootle may be posted to flickr later.

Looking out over the Forth its begining to burn off. YAY. Hoping the ride tomorrow is in sun and not Haar as this mornings ride was. On the Forth Road Bridge I got soaked in moisture.

Burnt off already in EH1. No lovely cooling protective moisture to shield me over lunchtime and on the way home...

Oh good. Sunshine. Looking forward to hauling my ass and the trailer for the seven miles and up the 700ft to the bairn's nursery later. That air conditioned car is looking mighty fine already.

I don't know, you people. Complaining if it's cold, raining, windy, and now when it's hot and sunny. Will you never be happy?

Sat on the balcony again - soaked up the rays

Nasty, haar-y ride in. Looking forward to the ride back in glorious sunshine followed by joining the hordes (and hordes there will be) barbequing in Harrison Park.

"I don't know, you people. Complaining if it's cold, raining, windy, and now when it's hot and sunny. Will you never be happy?"
No complaints from me. I think the only complaints on this thread are from wingpig (who doesn't actually complain when it's cold, so he is capable of weather happiness) and Insto (which appears to be more on a factual 'this is what I'm doing today and the heat makes that more difficult' thang).
Everyone else seems quite content with the sun.
Nelly - Lovely weather
Steveo - Yeah short sleeves today!
amir - I return to gorgeous weather here. Very welcome though
Zenfrozt - Hope the warmth today is a sign that summer may have arrived?
SRD - Blue sky! bring on the vitamin D :)And after the post...
Spytfyre - Sat on the balcony again - soaked up the rays
fimm - Looking forward to the ride back in glorious sunshine
DaveC - Scorching in Portabello over lunchtime!!For my part, needed something in the centre of town at lunchtime, took the bike, t'was utterly lovely feeling the heat of the sun.
I'd say, for the most part, yes, we are happy... ;)

@fimm we were bbqing there last night - thankfully we are well schooled and don't burn the grass

Watch out - the temperature is plummeting. Also need to change level of tint of sunglasses. It's a hard life.

Someone's turned the sun off.

Thank monkeys for that.

This is perfectly ridiculous. Tomorrow, like today, I shall be riding to work with multiple layers and front and rear lights, while my forehead, arms and legs begin peeling from too much sun last Saturday.

On the upside, we have no drought!! Still summer down Sarf with temperatures in the lower 20's.
All this wetness is, of course, why there are midges in Scotland...
We have had two weeks of summer so far this year, that sounds about right! It will be a bonus if we get more.
Posted 13 years ago # -
Hopefully the rain will stick around until at least Sunday evening so that I don't get too fried and bitten when camping at the weekend.
Posted 13 years ago # -
We also had a mini summer in March, lest we forget. That's probably our lot then: it is Scotland after all.
Posted 13 years ago # -
@wingpig - sadly nothing seems to deter those pesky midges and they actually prefer the damp conditions...one would think as a sort of mosquito that citronella based stuff would deter them, but I have not found this to be the case, and slathering on a skin product from a well-known catalogue beauty firm also has limited if no effect either, they just seem to absolutely love me, and I hate them!

wingpig we are off camping this weekend too - looks like good wind conditions for erecting a tent.....and therefore not enough wind to deter the midge blighters
