  1. Hopefully the link below will work (sent from my phone - I can't then view on this computer...)

Anyway, it might not look like much, but he really is going round a 90 degree blind turn, almost clipping the pavement in the process, at speed, just to get past a couple of cyclists and park 5 seconds earlier. Couple of young guys, clearly a testosterone pass.

If anyone had been coming the other way....

Can't see it at work but saw it earlier on mobile. I've been keenly awaiting some test footage from your new camera; can you make out the registration on the raw footage?

  3. Yep, very easily (thankfully, pondering reporting it).

The mobile footage is remarkably awful (showed someone at work this morning) - has been uploaded in 720p so on computer screen it's nae bad.

Really what was the point of that overtake? Everytime I see something like that a small part of me dies inside...

  5. Sod it, I'm going to email LBP the link and see if they want the numberplate. It's just round the corner from St Leonard's!

That is absolutely ridiculous. Especially knowing that road well and knowing that there are always parked cars immediately after that corner (looks like he almost hit them) and at that time of day often loads of kids out playing. Tosser of the highest order.

Report him please, you'll be doing everyone a favour.

If I didn't have whooping cough I'd almost certainly have been coming the other way at that time.

  9. Have just done so. I'm just glad, the more I watch it, that it wasn't a video with him suddenly having to brake and hitting a cyclist coming the other way.

It was a wee silver car with a young(ish) lad in it that dangerously overtook and swerved in front of me to get to the back of a line of stationary traffic on East Preston Street on Tuesday evening.

Can't say for sure that it was the same car, but a similar MO in the same geographical area.

Wow that is down right dangerous. Any young child crossing the road there, would have been killed for sure. You can see from the way the car is leaning over, its driving round that corner far too fast! Take in to account its an Audi which traditionally have a harder ride for better handling, unlike my old Citroen which lumbered on its soft suspension.

Good luck and I hope they caution the driver at the very least.

Oh and take care cycling the opp way, knowing now what this idiot drives like.

  13. "Hi Anthony,

Thank you for your email. I have forwarded on to our road policing team who will be in touch should they need anything further from you.

    Regards"

Well done. I know what a pain it can be contacting the police.

I don't understand why it's not effortless for the authorities to revoke the licence from this kind of twuntious little slapcraver, when he's so obviously afflicted with glandrot of the brain.

That reminds me of a question I wanted to put in the pause over on Cycle PC's thread...

    What a tool.

Some (young, male, baseball cap wearing) muppet in a blue Micra cursed me from his driver's window in Musselburgh on Tuesday, telling me to "get over to the *@!#*@!# side" (I was waiting to turn right) before turning left 10 metres further on into a car park.

Is there some kind of new "must get to the car park" rage phenomenon?

  17. Madam Raven wrote in citycycling a while back that drivers must actually enjoy sitting in queues. It could be the only rational explanation for them desperately trying to overtake before joining the back of one.

Its a dodgy little corner that. always take it relativly tight to the kerb for the reasons shown!

That's pretty grim. Here's one from yesterday (fingers crossed this embedded video works):

Hmm. The embed tag isn't working here. If someone can tell me how to embed a video, I'll try again...

  20. If it's YouTube you just need to copy the url address and then paste it in. No fancy tags required!

  22. Interesting comment on this vid on YouTube from blobby273:

"I like how the rider narrowly misses hitting the car when its [sic] reversing in its parking space and then judges the driver for his errors first class hipocrisy [sic].heaven forbid he should loose [sic] a second by slowing down to allow the car to park ."

So with clear line of sight, and reversing lights still on, with a very limited range of movement available to the car, and me moving at around 10mph, having slowed initially because the car was completely blocking the cycle path; that is analagous with driving on the wrong side of the road round a blind 90 degree bend at 25mph+ almost crashing into a parked car and the possibility that there would be a car or cyclist coming the other way, or kids playing in the street (as there often are)? Seriously?

Youtube is even worse for trolls than the EEN. Delete the comment and pity the fool.

Just remembered this morning after being undertaken on the Picardy Place roundabout that someone in a silver car tried to undertake me whilst I was turning right out of hermits croft last week. Didn't get a good enough look but i might have been the same one.

Ah right. It is on contour.com, so I've copied it to YouTube. Let's see if this works.

  25. That's a frankly ridiculous bit of driving as well! Just either not paying attention, or completely misjudging the speed of you coming the other way!
