  1. Off to Dundee on Sunday to watch a round of the Scottish Cyclocross Championship - wouldn't it be great if we could entice a round to Edinburgh for next year?

Mind you, I doubt we'd get permission to holid it on Arthur's Seat - where alse could host it?

I've always thought that Shawfair Bing and the self-set woodland at Millerhill would be great for Cyclocross (and MTB and BMXing).

Just outside Edinburgh (Midlothian next to East Lothian), close to QMU and due to have a new rail station (Shawfair) on the Borders Rail Line.

Love the dirty pair of heels!

Any progress with bringing a round to Edinburgh?

  6. I actually met a couple of guys on the Scottish CX organising committee. They were busy with the event yesterday, but I've got email addresses.

The course didn't have much up and down, just a couple of dips, and they could use the concrete velodrome in the park, which was a great feature of the course. Not sure many places would be happy at the 'road' of mud created on the grass, but there must surely be potential in Edinburgh. Needs to be somewhere with good access and parking (and preferably some toilet facilities, and hose access to wash off bikes).

I'm going to raise it with the contacts I've now got... Edinburgh CX 2011 must surely be possible. There were a lot of ERC riders at Dundee (around 150 riders over the 4 races?).

  8. Excellent. Now, just need to sort something for adults as well...

I've been back in touch with the Scottish CX guys and now have a contact in Edinburgh who apparently wants to set up an urban CX like this:

If Princes Street Gardens wasn't made for this kind of thing I don't know where is...

Enough space here to make a decent course?

  12. Easily. And that site is due to lie vacant for a while isn't it? The developers have pulled out?

Could have a really nice course there...

My friend and I were berating ourselves for owning badass (kinda) cyclocross bikes and never doing any. Obviously we shouda kept quiet cos on the way back from south queesferry we found a great, technical route that would make a great race in a wonderfull location close to the city. Dalmeny House

Had everything from tarmac to soft sand, gradients galore and a choice of routes. Really found out why cyclocross is fun today :) However Ive gotta go clean my bike again now... :(
