This is a pretty minor thing, but Mr SRD is getting increasingly frustrated with the number of bike lock keys he has to carry around and requested a lanyard for them, but all our existing lanyards are from random conferences, past employers and other things. Does anyone do a cool bike-themed lanyard? (ebay only seems to have cars and motorbikes).

My current lanyard is a lace from the shoes I wore to cycle in a few years ago, so is sort of cycle-specific.

What I really need is a cycle-specific key wallet to stop my keys jabbing my leg and working their way through the lining of my pockets.

  3. Reminds me, I must find the key to my D-lock. A while back I could only find the key but not the lock, now the situation is reversed.

Bike key lanyard would be a good idea (no secure pocket on new cycle troos means I'm carrying the key in the saddlebag which is less than satisfactory as it has the abillity to hide items more completely than any handbag known to man). And one, like wingpig says, that incorporated some sort of sheath would be the topper.

Cycle related? Maybe one out there in world champ stripes?

"...no secure pocket on new cycle troos..."

    Mmmf mmmff mf mff.

We should suggest the idea of a cycle-themed wallet/lanyard thing to Endura. They could sell a perfect but short-lived item for one year then redesign it into uselessness by the time anyone needs a replacement or fancies another.

(and I still think the pay-off on the pockets is worthwhile for the added comfort I now enjoy on the bike (we'll see what the durability is like over time)).

Surely getting lanyards made up wouldn't be that expensive. Off to check.

What about a small cotton wallet attached to a lanyard, would save getting keys stuck in the chest or wearing out pockets.

There are boxes full of old bits of fabric in my loft, lots of bits of Velcro in one of my crates of assorted things and two sewing machines in the house but I've other things to not get round to doing before I get round to not getting round to making myself a Velcro--fastening key-wallet-roll thing. Then again, one made by a bicycle-specific manufacturer might not be designed to cope very well with the stupid long key for the back gate.

Overpriced, but having the full complement of Chrome wallets and courier bags, i can attest they are hard wearing and functional.

Hmm. "Key" is the key word missing from that description. There's a bloke on Blipfoto who swears by Chrome, including a pair of hipster/messenger shorts about which one reviewer aptly commented "dude these are fantastic but like 140 bones?!!? like wtf?!?!?" or something to that effect. I see from the website's own currency conversion that this is equivalent to 122 UK bones, which is more than twice what I'm prepared to pay for a pair of shorts that I've been able to physically inspect in a shop prior to purchase.

I do keep a large set of keys in my chrome bishop wallet, plenty space for them, no problemo.

I have an ASO lanyard you could have. It has a list of their events on it Paris-Nice, Paris-Roubaix etc. White on red.

yeah, some cool stuff. hoped the belt pouch had its own waist belt, but apparently it is supposed to strap on your own belt./ doesn't that just make your trousers fall down?
