  1. Lady pushing her bike through St Leonard's, "Everything alright?" I enquire. Yes I do have a puncture repair kit, and yes she has presta valves so my pump will work. She normally runs, but was doing a wee tour of the city before disappearing to the States to teach kayaking for three months. And got a puncture a couple of miles from where she was meeting someone at 8 (it was 5 past).

Someone else had already enquired but had no puncture repair kit. It turned into a lesson on how to sort a puncture.

Nothing bad is now allowed to happen today.

The last time I stopped to help someone with a puncture I caught one myself within half an hour of setting off.

  3. Yeah, I was praying that wouldn't happen (as well as hoping the tyre would come off the rim easily - it did, and went back on without lever intervention).

Fixed one on the 20" Big Apples night before POP28, and then picked up 2 more pinholes in rapid succession on 2 tubes on the day on the right Wappiti Oleo! Thnx to LaidBack and his spares wagon was able to hot foot it back to LB magasin for a spot of char and Jane's crusty flapjacks! Luckily didn't bump into any other Fokkers on the flight back to the 'drome afterwards, so landed on a full set of rubber without pranging! Tally ho, live to fight another day!
