Plea from a Sister City

  1. Hi folks,

This is a shout out from the Edinburgh of the South - Dunedin, New Zealand. We're a Trust that is trying to get a couple of old rail tunnels open to create a 'Tunnels Trail' cycleway that goes under two hills heading south from Dunedin.

It's been a long battle and we are still really only getting started. Lots more details on the Caversham Tunnel website.

Cutting to the chase, we're running a short fundraising campaign by selling Dry tech T-shirts from a US-based site: teespring.com/dttt2012. If we get at least 100 orders by the 4th of June then the Campaign is live, and at this stage we are tantalisingly close at 88! If we don't get to 100, then no-one gets a shirt and no money is collected.

This is a chance to wear a T-shirt that will get people curious and support a new cycleway at the same time :-)

(Oh and I have a goal of wearing one of these while riding through the Innocent tunnel this time next year all going well!)

    Cheers,
    Gerard.

Shipping to UK only £3 - not bad!

We need a website like this in the UK> this is basically what we did to fundraise for POP, but manually.

    Ex of Dunedin 'n all.

If you ever went to Hoyts Octagon in 2002 I guarantee I would have sold you tickets and/or popcorn and jaffas.

As I'm already in the seventh circle of packing hell, I may wait till I get to Welly to support.

Looks like you'll make your target... great project.

I've reserved one as LB tourers know that tunnel riding is fun!

  9. Hi again. Thanks for all the support - that's brilliant and we're almost there!

Stepdoh - yep that'd be a definite, and enjoy Wellywood: they've got a good cycle movement going there now.

    Cheers,
    Gerard

Best of luck with the push for the final 3. Really like Dunners, plus our house was really cute (top bit of the yellow one on a precipitous hill, round the corner from the scarfies house).

  13. Hi all, just a postscript note: shirts have arrived over in NZ so hopefully those who ordered them here should also be receiving them about now. Hope you like them, and thanks again for the support!
    Cheers,
    G.
