Have just got the kettler trike out of storage for the toddler. it's seen a bit of wear (got it off ebay), and the black plastic bit that goes under the seat and holds the handle that you push with, is broken. You can see it clearly here

Anyone have any experience of sourcing a new one? or a suggested bodge (other than duct tape)?

(incidentally, in doing a quick search online, i discovered that Kettler has an attachment that turns the trike into a tandem trike!)

Is any of the plastic handle receiver intact ie is it the curved bit that's broken? If so, a bodge could be done with some Meccano type stuff. Bracing uprights onto/through the flat plastic sides with u shaped bands bolted to them?
Worked with something of similar shape that I had to repair. Of course, depends on if you have Meccano and you can sneak bits away without the bairn spotting you!

    Good luck!

Helpful email back from Kettler UK with details of spare part number, cost (a reasonable £2 plus postage), and the phone number to call to order it. yay!

I delight in hearing about people who try to repair / bodge something back into use. We too re-use, bodge or adapt items rather than just take the all too frequent " Oh it's got a bit broken, best bin it" attitude which results in our ever expanding coups. The downside is that our loft is creaking under the weight of things which could be useful 'sometime'.

Delighted you've managed to source the part and good to hear that the company supplies spares!
