Today, this is the main event I would be keeping my eye on. As the article states easy to miss due to the Jubilee celebrations but very noteworthy. Hats off to Mr Hall a fantastic achievement, and I suspect one that is going to be hard to beat!

So much of that is just so incredible.

More than twice as quick as Mark Beaumont's record, which was set only a few years ago.

He's carrying everything he needs and the full laden weight of the bike is 16kg!

So little time for sleeping, eating, basically anything that's not being on the bike...

I wonder if his legs will still be going round when he stops. Also I would imagine very hard to go back to "normal" life after such a feat. Altough he does talk of how hard it was at time to keep going, particularly crossing America, what will he do every day. A 50 or 100 mile ride will seem like a walk in the park. Quite difficult to keep focussed and not get depressed I would think. Mark Beaumont's record only stood for a couple of days and the bloke who beat it has been forgotten by everyone (including me). MB was also part of the team promoting this World Cycle event, and Mike Hall obviously decided to plough his own furrow being thousands of mile ahead of the others who had support vehicles and facilities all laid on. I wonder how disappointed the promoters are that he did not wait around to make the world record for the largest number at one time doing the circumnavigation.

    He's done it...

It all seems rather weird because when I went to the presentation at the RCPE about the World Cycle event there was talk of support vehicles, fitness gurus, masseurs, chefs/cooks, camping facilities...they must not have got the sponsorship, and it was a race but with everyone being together. Odd.
