    Hello!
Just trying to fill in a few gaps on the breakfast bike ride :)

Is there anyone in one of these wards who might like to lead a ride to the bike breakfast on the 20th?

    Inverleith/Stockbridge (ward 5)
    Corstorphine/Murrayfield (ward 6)
    Sighthill/Stenhouse/Saughton (ward 7)
    Morningside/Bruntsfield (ward 10)
    Craigentinny/Duddingston (ward 14)
    Southside/Newington (ward 15)

If you know anyone, maybe bung them an email to ask if they'd be interested!

    Thanks!

    http://www.breakfastbikeride.org.uk

PS If anyone's feeling artistic we'll need to design a flier at some point :)

    I am in ward 14...

  3. Just replied to your PM lionfish. Happy to get involved in some form - I'm not quite in Ward 14, but close enough not to make much of a difference.

Following a 'bentised ruggtomcat would make it fun!

ruggtomcat! Would you be ok with leading a ride from somewhere in Ward 14? Or maybe do you have suggestions of where the ride could leave from? which route it could take?

Also even if you can't lead the ride, it'd be good to have people from each ward inviting their own councillors to their rides.

    Thanks!

[edit: hope this isn't too demanding :]

    Thoughts...

Ward 14 start point: What about at the edge of the ward, at the roundabout by Holyrood Park (near the loch): http://goo.gl/maps/BiUv

I could be deployed by my employer Mr LB Bikes. Was maybe going to be on holiday but not so sure now.
I'm central so could go out to one of these start points.

Normally go to event anyway so happy to help bulk up ride.

Thanks LaidBack! Although there isn't a ride from central yet... not sure where to start from. (bit confusing as it has the destination in too).

I'm happy to go out to a start point - just pm or email me at LB

EG - Could do Stockbridge - collect group at Scotland Street park and have nice uphill cycle(!) Or meet Inverleith Park if that is better.

Hello, We're still looking for a few more leaders the two big gaps are
    Corstorphine/Murrayfield (ward 6) and Southside/Newington (ward 15).

Anyone live here and want to lead a ride? All you need to do is turn up at a place (near ish to home) to meet others to cycle to the Bike breakfast. And email your councillors.

We're going to be finalising publicity soon so it would be really good to get some volunteers asap! Cheers.

    Latest news,
of the 21 councillors who have been contacted so far, 8 have replied, 7 of them are cycling with us, while one is meeting at the breakfast! There's 11 more councillors to contact in the wards currently with rides...

Like minimoth said, we need rides from just two wards now :) Corstorphine/Murrayfield (6) and Southside/Newington (15).

We'll also be needing volunteers to start postering and fliering bikes next week.

Got a couple of afternoons off next week. I'm in District 9, but I'll happily spam in the wider area.

@Uberuce - thanks for the help! We'll work out a few locations across the city to pick leaflets/posters up from (currently: George Square, Leith and Slateford).
We've got kaputnik designing them again! (woohoo :)
I wonder how many to print...

@sallyhinch - thanks! That'd be awesome, I noticed you've already got a nice plug for the event on the POP page.

We'll try to compose something over the next day or so.

    Thanks :D

Work commitments mean I can no longer do the Leith one (rescheduled training, which it would be unwise to skive seeing as our department's being redundawhittled at present) so if anyone wants to bag it in my place, feel free...

    No worries wingpig.

We need someone from Leith Walk to hassle their councillors. I'm sure once we start advertising the rides (from Wednesday) we'll get quite a few more people joining in/volunteering.

In other news, kaputnik's got together another spectacular poster:
    (top of his page...)
    http://www.magnificentoctopus.com/

We'll get that printed (hopefully in the next day or two)...

I could help do the Newington ride. Live above the innocent railway tunnel.
We could meet in EAst parkside/at commie pool.

ARobComp - perfect! Meet where-ever you think best!
Which route would you like to take?

Also, the most important thing (once you've decided on a route and start point) is to email your councillors.

    Thanks!

    Other things to do:

    1. add the route to the google map
    http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=13
(I just added a meeting at Metropole, but you can remove that).

    2. Make a facebook page for the event :)

    3. Invite people to it!

    4. Me to add it to http://www.breakfastbikeride.org.uk (will do soon!).

    Thanks again :D

Wonder if any other Ward can get all their Councillors to cycle/attend the event; not that it's a competition, of course ;-)

@ARobComp: I've put it on the site:

    http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=191

    Lyndsey's made a facebook page:

    https://www.facebook.com/events/482334295115998

And it's been added to the map (it'll probably be joining up with the ride from Portobello).

    http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=13

I've added a list of the councillors' emails at the bottom of the event page on the website, and there's an example email to help you :) at:

    http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=57

See you at the breakfast! :D

@anth and @ruggtomcat: Decided to go with Meadowfield Park as the start point (so we can get map/leaflets made).

    We now have...
    ...a facebook page
    https://www.facebook.com/events/456040257740204
    ...a route on the map
    http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=13

All that's needed is for someone in the ward to email the councillors.
(their email addresses are at the bottom of the page:
    http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=172

and there's a sample email here:
    http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=57

    Thanks :D

Thanks Sally! I suppose I'd better try and use Twitter. I'm sure it can't be as complicated as it seems.......... not even 30 and grumbling about not understanding technology....... oh dear.

Thanks everyone. Just been trying to make the map to go on the back of the leaflets. (going with black-and-white for the leaflets on bikes - don't have the cash to go colour!).

Wordpress lost 10 points today - was trying to get it to be an image-map (so people could click on the different rides, but wp caused trouble...). Just stuck a list of rides on there for the moment.
    http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=13

Anyway, here's the first version. Yell if you see typos/mistakes:

I should probably note that the times I've put on there are the meeting times (the rides will be starting a few minutes later).

    @minimoth - I find twitter's really easy and straightforward (and I'm relatively ancient) - it's facebook I can't get to grips with.
