You can always trust the ENews to have a smart headline.

"Council bosses have set a goal of 50 per cent of all journeys to be by bike, foot or public transport amid worries about huge levels of extra traffic on the roads."

All based on "a huge jump in passenger numbers at Edinburgh Airport from nine million a year at present to 26 million a year over the next 20 years" though.........

    a) likely?

    b) desirable??

Here's my favourite selfish comment from the opinion bit... I know I shouldn't...

Blue Bishop The solution? More cars on the road. When the greedy bus drivers went on strike a few years ago Edinburgh was a jot to get around**. Bin the Buses, Trams and Cycle lanes and reclaim some of the pavements and we can get 2 lanes everywhere.

**For users of cars and bikes. Must be a surprise to him and others that not everyone drives (or cycles). At least he used a Capital letter for Cycle ;-)

Good job we're ramping up peak time on-street parking then, otherwise where would all these people who are being discouraged from using their cars, park them?

we can get 2 lanes everywhere. For what? Parking? Some of these people live in a parallel universe.
