CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

OK I am trimming slightly:
Jenny: The cycling facilities in Edinburgh are by no means perfect
All of us would hold our hands up to that
Many of the pot holes we are currently experiencing are of course from circumstances beyond our control, exptremely severe weather...
Having thought that we were getting on top of the road and pavement maintenance having put huge amounts of money into it
It is being tackled but it has added to the problems that are there
We have increased the number of kilometers of on street and bus lane and off street cycling facilities
Fair amount of new cycle lanes that have come into use
Something we do take seriously
We have signed up to I think it's the agreement to try to increase the number of people cycling in Edinburgh
It has increased from something like 1% 10 years ago to 5% now, it has been a slow increase but we have signed up to greatly increase the number of people cycling and to make it safer to cycle
also make it safer to cycle
There is I believe a report coming to the transport committee in the Summer looking at how we deliver to that commitment
Interviewer: Edinburgh is the only city in UK to sign up to this, to get 15% bike journeys by 2020 you are going to have to invest a lot of money and come up with some pretty exciting projects to do that, how much money are you spending at the moment and what's the vision?
Jenny: I couldn't give you the figure offhand, it was certainly part of our budget, we always do allocate money to cycling but I couldn't give you the figure off the top of my head, when we do sign up to these type of excercises it is not just a paper exercise and we are committed to seeing it through. Hopefully we'll see in a few months time
Interviewer: which councillors cycle?
Jenny: quite a few, I tend to bus or walk, I used to love cycling but I can't say I have cycled recently
Quite a few of my colleagues cycle into work
One opposition councillor I quite often see on a bike.
In my party I know there are two or three
The chief executive regularly cycles but not into work
@spytfyre
GREAT
Thanks
