    Hello all again! [r.e. http://www.breakfastbikeride.org.uk ]

We're a bit short on people to lead the Leith/Leith Walk ride. Also we've not got anyone who's actually IN the Leith Walk ward to email their Councillors.

We'll be contacting all the councillors on Friday, but it's better if they're asked by their own constituents too.

    Thanks all!

See some of you on Friday at PY :)

I'm in Leith Walk constituency and was hoping to make it along. I suppose if I haven't got a million things to do I could fire off a few e-mails. Have you got some pro-forma info I can adapt/personalise? PM me if so.

There's a couple of Leithers on twitter, I'll point them in direction of this thread

I'm certainly coming along, but I'm not in the Leith Walk ward.

@crowriver: Thanks that would be fantastic!

    Their email addresses are: angela.blacklock@edinburgh.gov.uk, deidre.brock@edinburgh.gov.uk, maggie.chapman@edinburgh.gov.uk, nick.gardner@edinburgh.gov.uk

And there's an example email on http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=57

@kaputnik: Thanks - that would be good.

@Puzzle: Wonderful :) Which ward are you in? There might be a ride nearer you (check on the map: http://breakfastbikeride.org.uk/pwp/wordpress/?page_id=13 )

Sorry, I am a bit confused. You have someone to organise the Leith Walk ride but not to send the emails?

@Min: We combined the Leith and Leith walk areas into one ride. The Leith councillors have been invited, but the Leith Walk ones haven't. Hope that makes sense!

and just to make things more complicated, the person leading the ride on the day might not be able to make it after all, but there's plenty of other people who will be able to take over the job *looks at crowriver*

Ah okay, I hadn't quite appreciated that. In that case you have me as standby if Crowriver can't make it.

A lot depends upon whether I can get my three year old daughter out of the house and in her bike seat in time. That in turn depends on my partner taking the seven year old son to school at 8.45, on her way to work. You see how it might be complicated, hence my slightly conditional 'hoping to come along' rather than 'I'll be there at 7.30 sweeping broken glass off the paths at Leith Links for the riders."

Hence also why I did not originally volunteer to lead the ride nor e-mail Councillors. If however you are stuck...

I don't know if crowriver is happy to lead the ride, I was just looking in their direction :P

If you wouldn't mind taking part in organising it on the day, that'd be good (just check people know where they're going, - if the ride's big, figure out how to deal with junctions, help with anyone who's a bit slow, etc etc...)

    Thanks!

There is a FB group for the Leith ride as well to co-ordinate efforts https://www.facebook.com/events/350204065051121/

Foot of the walk is perfect for me.

    Thanks Puzzle for the link!

I hope foot-of-walk is ok as it's on the leaflets now :)

@lionfish, it's not that I'm unhappy: I just can't guarantee I'll be there on time, due to factors outwith my control. I wouldn't want to lead a ride if I'm straggling along at the last minute, not very 'leadership' is it?

@crowriver: Ah! I posted my post at the same time as you posted yours and I never saw it - so my post seemed a bit rude!! Sorry!! (the post was there to explain to Min that you hadn't volunteered, but I was just looking in your direction to see if you would). But then your reply happened without me noticing... ahh!

Anyway, sorry about that! (I should click 'refresh' more often).

I'm sure I can find more people (e.g. via facebook) too.

    Thanks!
[So really don't worry - especially as you've got lots of things to do in the morning].

    Perfect!
Hopefully by the end of today, all the councillors will have had at least one email from a ward-member and an email from me asking them to take part.

That's 8 councillors taking part, 1-2 meeting at the breakfast, and ~12 still to contact (in wards with rides) and ~20 more in other wards within range. My target is to get 15 councillors cycling in... (several cycle anyway!)

Now it's really a matter of posters and publicity.

Will poster/flier this afternoon (once laminating's been done).

Angela Blacklock has replied. She can't make it but says she does normally cycle.
