One journey in ten, it seems. Sigh. Novelty value only until a more serious roll-out.

Just checked, it really is 2012.

Hang on while I fill in my Scotrail ticket myself with a ball-point pen because the smartish card system STILL isn't in place after years of faffing.

Still Haymarket will be nice, oh wait, that's behind schedule too.

    ScotFail.

I believe we (taxpayer) are contributing £250k to this 20th century technological marvel?

Except you probably can't because you're expected to write on a shiny coating seemingly impervious to normal pens, as I don't make a habit of carrying lumicolours/photo pens outside work I normally have to ask a ticket warden to colour in the engraving for me!

Another triumph of design from scotrail...

And some will tell you, as one did me, that really he should be making me pay the full fare and taking the ticket. It's supposed to be filled in before you go through the barrier etc etc etc.

Another reason I've been enjoying not using Scotrail.

The lack of Log In will be so that civil servants can use it; our laptops can't do anything that complicated. Maybe I'll be lucky and be on one of these trains on my way to the ScotlandIS Awards Ceremony tonight in Glasgow.

If its anything like Stagecoach's Free wiffy, then I'd stick to my 3G, even if its occasionally flacky in town jumping from cell to cell. Now if Stagecoach could only slow their speeding coaches down like their wiffy speeds, I'd be happier letting my children cycle in Dalgety Bay.

DaveC perhaps give the Stagecoach a Strava test-run one day and publish the results of coach speed in public?

@NetworkrailEGIP is asking for how to improve the rail network in Central belt on twitter under #EGIp tag. Only don't mention trains as "we don't do trains".

I've suggested proper cycling interchange (connections to path networks, lockable, covered lockers etc.) and doing something about the horrible new-look galvanised metalwork stations.

Yup. Bet they are pleased to do it for you though!
