Friday/Saturday Evening Beer?

During last Friday's post work beer it was mooted we arrange a beer evening for later in the day to allow for dinners to be had, help significant others to deal with children etc thus allowing people to stay for longer then "just the one"

My proposal is either Friday 20th or Saturday 21st (July) circa 2030. Location is best proposed by others who frequent more establishments than I. Though keeping it in town for ease of congregation is probably preferable.

Can you add a Poll for the two days?
Also do we have to wait until 2030? Would 2013 not be better?
If we're doing town centre I'd vote Rose Street
Again we could just join in the last Friday of the month Critical Mass and then go to pub afterwards as they usually ride from about 1800-1900 (and those like me that need to get 'ome to sort the kiddies can skip the ride) Tweet which pub they end up in.
We've been threatening muttering about joining a mass for a long time and trying to get them to up their speed to at least 10mph

I can't seem to add a poll, perhaps the friendly neighbourhood mod will be along shortly and add one.

I'm hoping if we leave it long enough the laddy can come along and buy my beer. :D

I'm not all that fussy about the CM if I'm honest and I think the wife is working the last weekend of July so it wouldn't suit me and since I figured its easier to set a date than negotiate one i'd better pick one I can actually make.

FTFY. I'd try and watch one without joining in first to see what they're like these days. I'm much more in favour of a sort of localised-(temporally-and-geographically)-yet-still-comprised-of-individuals-not-travelling-en-masse-mobilisation where everyone just trundles as they see fit around a specified area during a specified interval so that motor vehicles in the area are exposed to a greater number of cycles on the streets than usual without encountering a large bolus of them travelling atypically slowly and widely.

no wingpig - I joined in one before so that statement is false on one part (and apart from the speed it was a fun time and a good bunch of folks of all ages) the second part you are wrong on is there were other people on here muttered in agreement that they would join one en mass with other CCErs and try to railroad a faster pace...
I would go look up the threads and provide links but
    a) the site is mince to search and navigate
    b) posting links gets me banned by the spam filter
    What does FTFY mean?

    I've had a bad day/week/month - can you tell?

Also b could be expanded into

"c) it may have been posted under one of several usernames, making searching more laborious than it needs to be"

There was someone else who seemed suspiciously keen to get everyone along to a CM on a few occasions but there was a general "no thanks"-ness to any replies they received.

Even if there's a mix of people it only takes the presence of one or two sources of irritation for irritation to be felt.

Ordinarily I'd be grand, but I'm off the sauce until my holiday up in the Highlands.

The noted beer drinkers made it to diggers yon new year. I see the fountain at fountain bridge has had a significant makeover

if we went to the fountain (which I was also interested to check out, after said makeover - decor very reminiscent of Sofis and other good Leith area pubs), then the fountainpark parking would be ideal.

SRD - The Fountain is now owned by the guy who owns the Carriers Quarters in Leith and the Golden Rule, both great pubs. I'm intrigued about the makover as the old Dundee Arms/Fountain was where the Hearts casuals used to meet and it had a terrible reputation for violence.

I'm told Proctor's had a bad rep too, but has been decent since it became Dagda.

Were you aware that it's nickname for a while was The Vietnam? The locals are wee scamps at times, aren't they :o)
