EL AL, the World's Friendliest Airline to Cyclists

"EL AL, Israel’s prestigious international airline, is the only known international carrier to allow passengers to travel with their bicycles free of charge. The lack of charge can make a significant difference ... Passengers travelling with a bicycle get 20 extra kilos above the baggage allowance at no extra cost. Cyclists simply have to inform travel agents when making the flight reservation and the cycle needs to be encased."

"Uri Danor, EL AL’s Chief Executive, UK, Ireland and Northern Europe, said: 'We are delighted to be able to support those who want to cycle in Israel by not charging them for bringing their own bikes or (sic) by providing meaningful discounts on bike rental'."

You'd have thought they would have been worried about all those bike bombs the rest of the world is worried about ;-)

Yes it odd that there is such paranoia about bicycle bombs, after all terrorist would never think of packing a car with explosives and using it as a bomb, would they?

I had a bike checked for explosives in Ireland in '87 when I was getting onto a train and a ferry.
