Vigilante or superhero?

This story is even more controversial because it’s about a vigilante cyclist who smashes car windows, catches thieves and locks them to bike racks, and can stop a car engine without the driver even knowing what happened. And even if the driver whipped a Glock out from under the seat, The Shock says he’s not all that worried.

“They’ve already got a weapon. Their vehicle is the biggest weapon they’ve got. I’m not really afraid of a gun because I’ve been threatened by a much larger piece of metal,” he explains. “A gun isn’t much use at 20 yards, anyway. At least, not the way most people hold it.”

How does he always get his lock back if he's throwing it through windows? And one moment it's a U-lock, then it's a handcuffs-type lock...

Perhaps "The Shock" is more an agglomeration of cycle messenger lore than one individual?

I think some people are temperamentally unsuited to cycling.

Careful you don't cut yourself with that edge.

    DISLIKE. Or "-1" or whatever.

Remember, kids: violence solves nothing. Don't get mad - get video evidence.

in such a moderate and well balanced forum, humour can often go unnoticed.

    lighten up.

ie. i presume the article to be a spoof.

Who should lighten up and where has some humour gone unnoticed?

No, I'd much rather you clarify things, just so there's no chance of any of that only-seeing-things-written-down internet-tone-of-voice misinterpretation stuff happening.

my original comment was sardonic, like the majority of my posts unashamedly are.

i don't believe the article is any more than a spoof.

but i liked it for that.

my follow up comment was directed at both uberuce and yourself.

but even if i'm wrong about those crrrazy americans, i can't see the vigilante superhero meme catching on in the UK, can you ?

Is is not permitted to (sardonically or otherwise) dislike the article (spoof or not)?

apologies for my earlier unwarranted derision.

in my defence, i'm still rebelling against the doctor's advice earlier this morning that they will require to send a camera up my urethra.

there... you just can't get more off-topic than that.

remember kids: don't drink green tea extract all day for a decade.

    i'll get me coat.

I notice there's a rather dubious story linked from the page which claims to be investigating cycle eroticism, or something. Have to say I'm going with bax's spoof hypothesis for both articles.
