Residential road closures 'to allow children to play'

We used to play on the road as kids in the 70s and early 80s. Hardly anyone in our estate in Livingston even owned a car, so we used to play kerby, football, and even tennis on the road.
We even erected a net over the road for our tennis games, and were suitably annoyed when we had to move it for a car to get past - we could go hours without having to move that net.
We also used to race manically up to and round the Taxi office on our bikes on the road, although one of my mates did get hit by a car once, but he seemed none the worse for it, and we continued racing.Posted 12 years ago # -
Can't imagine what would happen if you tried to close off Craiglockhart Road/Park/Drive with a couple of wheelie bins and a ""Closed" sign!
The rat-runners would assert their rights, violence would ensue, I fear.
Saw a couple of girls trying to play kerby on the Road the other day. Much harder than it used to be, now you have to thread your shot through the trafic and retreiving the ball must be terrifying. Brave souls!
