steveo it probably was me, I tend to nod and mumble 'alright' at most cyclists I see even when in autopilot mode !!

@cb outward bound, platform 4, 7:40ish? I think I know who you are - well at least there's a person with a red non-Brompton I sometimes see then.

A certain juggling cyclist outside and then inside palmyra when I was heading home from a pub outing. I owe him the 25p he lent me in order to buy a slightly larger humus falafel.

Bike Chain skillfully negotiating the newly created Broughton Street mosh pit on a 1980s leg-warmer coloured MTB.

Mr SRD (I think) solo on the Helios this morning, Waverley Bridge heading to Princes Street.

wow forgot about that, good thing I wasn't cycling that night, I was in no state for it!
Posted 12 years ago # -
Ha! I was cycling. Still not sure if it was a good or a bad idea. I was alright but probs should have been walking but I wanted to get home and eat my slightly larger than I otherwise would have had falafel.

Mr SRD navigating streets on the other side of the Atlantic today, so not him!
Posted 12 years ago # -
@SRD, it seems the Helios fraternity in Edinburgh is growing! He had a child seat on the back too, just like yours.
Posted 12 years ago # -
@crowriver: Hankchief, of the stripey Helios tandem, perhaps?
Posted 12 years ago # -
hankchief and mr srd differ rather inthe facial hair department....and to the discerning have different childseats too :)
Posted 12 years ago # -
@Arelicat, no, I don't think it was him and there were no yellow stripey bits either.

Three diverse spots today...
New Fuego on MMW in commute mode
Girl on bike wearing a full face moped type helmet
Velotraum Germanic style hybrid with Rohloff, Shimano dynahub and B+M Cyo lights. Magura hydraulic rim brakes.
Velotraum with Rohloff etc by LaidBackBikes, on FlickrPosted 12 years ago # -
I have only ever seen hydraulic rim brakes once and they were on a German "Steppenwolf" touring bike that looked very similar to the above bike
Posted 12 years ago # -
Given the (I assume) considerable cost of that Velotraum, I find the condition of the saddle interesting.
Do you think they spent their last nickel on the bike, and now have nothing left to replace the saddle.
...or it is just a cover to keep the rain off?
Posted 12 years ago # -
@Greenroofer looking at the enlarged image on Flickr, it's a rain cover

I saw that locked up on George Street during the festival and thought the owner was being brave. On the assumption that such a distinctive bike would be shipped out of Edinburgh upon theft, I'm glad to see it wasn't nicked.

Maguras were popular with mountain bikers for a while before V-Brakes came along and matched their power for less than half the cost,

SRD with mini SRD stoker and mini mini SRD as passenger, heading up ardmillan 16.15? Was returning from James bond I mAx. With my son it is very good
Posted 12 years ago # -
i thought the cars were being very considerate !
Not thrilled at the idea of anyone seeing me puff like that though. Hard work & coming home from Gorgie farm, so we were dressed for standing around rather than hard pedalling.
Posted 12 years ago # -
I was a long way off at the bus stop next to the church on Slateford Road so hadn't clocked the puffing too much. Worse things than puffing. James Bond is very long, you come out the Imax a different door than you go in at Cineworld. So no loos. I said to my son, do you need to go and he said no. We were half way along Dundee Street when he revised this opinion.
Have you ever used the little cut through from the end of Dundee St, goes all the way to locked gates at the railway, starts very muddy, does have exit at Harrison Gardens? No use for return from Gorgie Farm but of some use if returning from Fountainbridge Birthdays at bowling/cinema etc.. Actually, on second thoughts it might be a little bit dodgy e.g. after a hearts match etc. Did feel very wintery around 16.15pm

Was that greenroofer who came and spoke to me about Bromptons at Livingston North last week sometime? If so, I apologise for being off on planet fimm as usual and not realising "who you were".
I do have chats about the Brompton quite often and so someone telling me about their new one isn't unusual - but I also have a personality defect that means I am extremely bad at remembering names and faces unless I make a concious effort to do so. I seem to be getting worse at remembering to make the effort as I get older.

Certain forumer leading the drumming at last night's Beltane procession. The whole thing looked and sounded amazing. Fire, drumming and frenetic piping.
Lothian and Borders police car was completely surrounded by the following crowd. Cycling police not in evidence!Posted 12 years ago # -
cb (if the person I think is cb is indeed cb) on the platform waiting for a train Wednesday morning and possibly the same person or possibly not absolutley hoofing it up the hill along Dalry Road away from Haymarket - I thought I was reasonably speedy on the Brompton but I was left well behind...

Completely forgot yesterday - Min on the Bridges as I waited at the lights going up the Royal Mile. I gave my loudest stare but she didn't hear me.

~7.25am: Greenroofer with his ears pinned back by the Craighouse 20% descent. I was disguised as something less important than handling the bike during said plummet(other examples include: just about everything else ever) so no reverse Spot.
~9am Bloke on a single speed with toddler in childseat. Respec'.
~9.05 Very elderly lady giving metaphorical two fingers up to the headwind and rain as she spun along.

Ooh. I think there was a queue up ahead at the ped crossing so I was employing the eyes in the back of my head for f-wittery from drivers behind desperate to reach it 0.01s before I filtered past them.

@fimm, yes I was on the train on Wed so probably me.
On Tuesday, it took me a few moments to realise that I was getting wet standing in my usual platform spot, as they have removed the roof!
Think I remember seeing you on Dalry Road. I was rushing to get home, hence the speed.
