Wingpig? - on the dailymash of all places
(oh noes, I posted a link! now I have to run from the spam filter)
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
Green recumbent ... Warrender Park Road
That might've been Laid Back. His current machine is green.
Spotted a non-Moultoned chdot this afternoon powering along Kilgraston Road. I was disguised as a passenger in a car.
"I was disguised as a passenger in a car"
Hope it wasn't the one that got 'a bit close'...
Not I! We were heading north at the time, although 'heading' implies movement, of which there was none at that precise moment, owing to an excess of vehicles heading south from Marchmont Road and blocking the junction.
...and that's why I don't let my beard grow longer than my head, as with short hair there's only a small margin between neatness and scariness, though I noticed a definite increase in relative personal approachability when I stopped having nice scruffy long hair. I was even asked by a girl if I coud lend a bike pump at the Charlotte Square end of George Street on the way home this evening, which wouldn't have happened pre-2007.
Crowriver, on the Seafield bit of the prom?
Roibeard family at Innocent Tunnel mouth. I was on ICE trike, LaidBack was on the Morpheus, Shona from the cafe next door was on another ICE trike.
Yes... was a good day. Big thank you to Uberuce for helping on ride. Plus thanks to both Dave and Uberuce for sorting flood at The Pastures (from Jane and Stan).
Yarp. Popped into LBB to retrieve an SD card and maybe take the Morpheus on a pootle round the block. Estimated half an hour at most.
Actually ended up going a couple of miles down the Innocent, riding the Morpheus, captaining LaidBack on it, sprinting up the Innocent on the ICE so hard I torqued the boom round, fixing an overflowing toilet(thankfully it was clean water coming in, not sewer water coming back up) and then having a grand old natter with newly-prospective cyclist Shona.
I spotted the laidback Tri+Tri+ recumbent outside my flat earlier. Also then spotted Laidback in the Bike works while I was desperately hoping it was my indexing and not the need for a new chainset which was causing my gears to skip. It was unfortunately the latter.
@wingpig, yes. I thought it was you, I gave you my 'is that wingpig?' look but couldn't stop as it was 'time for a boost' from the junior co-pilot...
@Greenroofer - that was em that was, last week, on my rather tired old Streetmachine.
Over a decade old now - and my knees are a decade older, alas..
The omnipresent Mr SRD on Gilmore Place at lunchtime.
In that case: EddieD on the Innocent, on Saturday? I did comment to LaidBack that I thought it was the recumbent rider from Greenroofer's previous Spot.
and in that case: definitely EddieD on the towpath last weekend :-)
Aye, Uberuce, 'twas me on Saturday too.
That's the thing about 'bents, you can't fade into the background ;)
They're Schrodinger's Bike: simultaneously the most noticeable and 'dangerously' invisible.
Aye, either that or so startling that folk stare so long they crash into you...
You can't win
Guy on a Chopper with big-ass headphones, carrying a large tartan golf brolly. Not every day you get a picture of something like that.
In London today. Spotted a Pashley Guvnor with a large trailer. On the trailer was a proper metal cabin trunk like you would take to boarding school.
Very stylish. It was locked to a lamppost, and I didn't see the owner. I expect he was wearing a green tweed jacket, plus fours and a flat cap.
Didn't have a camera with me, though, so you'll have to imagine it.
LaidBack, this evening around 5pm, in disguise as a pedestrian on Forrest Road. I was in even greater disguise as a 41 bus at the time...
Spotted a well-lit Dave and trailer outside Laid Back Bikes about 6pm this evening. I was in disguise again.
Spotted chdot heading towards town on Gilmerton Road near to Liberton High School. I attempted a gentlemanly 'Good Evening', but fear it was lost in the rumble of commuter traffic.
Oh that's who it was! (I heard my name called - but was too busy dealing with the narrow cycle lanes...)
I was dazzled (not in a bad sense) by the lights on the sides of your bars - plus the one in the middle (so that drivers don't confuse bike for far off car!)
I busted someone of this forum with the kitchen scales out measuring the total weight of all the bolts and washers on his bike...
They're very handy little things, they have red LED's that show to the rear (although not sure if they are visible due to my, erm, large thighs!!). They even have indicators, not that I use them.
Roibeard spotted me today which makes a change since it is normally me that spots him! It must have been the dazzlement from my front light..
Helios Tandem every Wednesday at the commie pool.
Spotting opportunity in about an hour-ish(!) When finally (due to various delays too tedious to go into) my LHT will be proceeding from Edinburgh Park Stn in the direction of Colinton, probably very slowly as I'll have all four panniers on as well as a large rucksack on the rear rack!
Be sure to wave and shout encouragement if you see me wobbling up the hill...
@Kaputnik, if you want them to feel better about the result they got, just out of curiosity I checked the weight of the LHT and luggage this morning, a slender 46kg all up (without rider!)
