A cycle polis on the Balgreen-Pinkhill path. Riding alone and at a reasonable pace on a decent bike.

Circe Helios tandem, set up for small pilot and child stoker I think, chained to the railings on Princes Street. I locked my Brompton up next to it, for company.

Coming up Colinton road and aiming to turn right into Napier Street.

    My brain thought:

Bike fella spinning like a boss up the hill here.
I dislike this turn so I'll wait till he's past.
    Childseat. Looks Hamax to me.
What sorcery is this? A second child between Hamax and pilot?
    Helios?
    Affirmative.
    Check for tigerstripes.
    Negative.
    Bearded'n'bespectacled pilot?
    Affirmative.
    Blonde'n'bespectacled stoker?
    Affirmative.

Nae prizes for guessing, unless you're new here.

Uberuce, you have 'outed' yourself as a non-parent/childseat cognoscenti in mistaking a copilot limo for a hamax!

SRD last night at the bottom of MMW, I said hello but I don't think you recognised me in cold weather gear.

Gembo this morning at Fountain Bridge while I was shouldering the bike to get to the office after the chain was sucked into the wheel.

Saw a very interesting rear light last night but I was in no condition to chase the roady down to find out what it was. It looked like the the rear wheel was an emitter, but I assume it was just designed to be pointed at the wheel to give that effect.

Ah, i was looking at you turning in, wondering 'do I know that person' and then you said 'hi' , so I decided I did, but could not figure out who it was at all. New jacket?

May have been this. The light is triggered to come on front and back. Each wheel has two rings of LEDs which activate at front. Rear one has red LEDS. Bike was in for service at Bicycle Works.

Yeah, that looks exactly like the kind of thing that would generate the effect I seen. Its a bit clunky for my liking though, shame it was a very cool and noticeable effect.

Is that where he's from? I had often wondered.

Gritter on canal towpath this morning (not by me) - surprised no-one else mentioned it.

Done as far as the BARRIERS before Cultins Road from Kingsknowe.

Walking past George Square this morning, there was a man attempting to use his streetsweeping machine around the entranceways of some of the University buildings. He was doing a wonderful job of sweeping up all the grit that looked like it had freshly been put down on the pavement.

mr invisible WC and I were in the same restaurant last night in an ironic twist, either a lovingly restored, hipster's paradise with lovely food or the gentrification of former town centre workplaces. Dependent on your bias. Lovely but pricey

I am an urban geographer with an interest in marginality and inequalities. My MSc research focuses on territorial stigmatisation in Edinburgh: how negative reputations are formed; how they are sustained and reproduced; the effects on local residents; and the public policies that are directed towards areas of urban relegation. My research incorporates the themes of regeneration, gentrification, eviction and displacement, and the 'right to the city'.

Kaputnik doing a double take as he spotted either Arellcat and I in LaidBack's shop or the MTBeam outside with an ICE trike box on it.

Some minutes later, chdot with a wheel strapped to his person.

Cyclist with beard on Gorgie Road Sunday afternoon. Thought it might be Uberuce but wasn't sure - helmet, yellow pannier, yellow/high vis coat.
I was disguised as a jogger...

Cheating a bit here, but spotted what I think may be cc's PaperBike (with gleaming new rack) in the secure store behind the University's Informatics building. Nice one!

  21. Was indeed quite serendipitous to see Mr gembo in the same purveyor of hip-though-expensive culinary delights. Had an is-it-or-isn't-it moment before he wandered over to the table.

Mel afterwards: I'd wondered if you'd know him, he looked like a cyclist.

This opinion may be formed by the fact that whenever we go for a walk or the like there's a cyclist rides by who waves hello.

@Uberuce - I only got a glimpse of the cyclist's face, and saw mostly beard... I decided it probably wasn't you but thought I would check...

Steveo treading water at Stenhouse Cross. Puncture or other-such mechanical? Or unwilling to try that hail in your face?

About 10m from the cross I heard the hail clattering down so I took shelter under a tree for a few minutes, figured I might as well walk round the junction and rejoin further up...

I would have been straight into a bus shelter if it hadn't been coming down on my back.
