Careful. You'll be in the Evening Chipwrapper next week because your neighbourhood has become too left-wing-tandem-riding-pinky-commo-museli-knitting-green-voting sort of a place.

Insto + insto jnr heading for Fife on their new bike!

Ah, yes, me and Ewan on a nice new Helios. Good to see you and Recombodna. Bike actually intended for Mandy and Ellen although it can accommodate any combination of the four of us. Nice tootling home on it although some of the chicanes on the canal and the bends on the ramp up the path at Russell Road are a bit tight.

Reverse spot of Steveo, disguised as a Mini driver. He made a 'waving hello' gesture at me, but I didn't think of a 'cradling baby then thumbs up' gesture until several dozen seconds afterwards, so I just waved back.

I was heading inbound on the NEPN towards Murrayfield Station and spotted an outbound Laid Back and Mrs Laid Back on their monster Quetzal tandem, with Angelo and miniAngelo the cross-Canada guys in tow on their Nazca Fuegoes.
Fortunately it was raining and I was mostly hidden behind sunglasses and the neoprene rain cover of the red bullet, so they couldn't see how hot and knackered I was, having done a mad dash to Dalmeny and back.
Then moments later spotted a non-CCE friend from work who was off to catch a steam train.

@Nelly: 2 or 3 wheeled recumbent? I've seen a 3-wheeler a couple of times this week: he was having fewer issues with the nasty headwind than the rest of us cyclists were!

Bloke wearing a motorbike helmet, riding an MTB in Gorgie.
Posted 11 years ago # -
Is this motorbike man? long, straggly blond hair? has seen better days? used to see him a lot down Leith Walk. Always with motorbike helmet. Sometimes walking, sometimes on a pedal bike.

I don't think I saw any hair peeking out from the helmet, and I'd say he was neatly casually dressed.
The vibe I got was of a person who was going to be riding his motorbike shortly, didn't have time to get home to swap helmets, so in the meantime found his head the best place to carry it.

Or possibly the vibe was of someone absolutely terrified of falling off their bike and bumping their head?

I considered but discounted that, on the grounds that a safety enthusiast of that magnitude would also be in head-to-foot hiviz, and probably have MTB/skateboard armour too. T

If it's a guy with a matt black helmet in a shape like this, usually in faded black jeans:
I used to see him most mornings at around 07:15 coming from the Slateford Village complex, heading towards Gorgie.

Thinking about starting a new thread 'Overtaken by...', but I'll stick with 'Spotted'.
Yesterday on my way home overtaken by single speed Surly climbing up Harlaw Road out of Balerno.
This morning overtaken by very tasty heritage-styled-but-modern Condor descending through Wester Hailes.Posted 11 years ago # -
Police car with blue lights aflashing on nepn between red bridge and Telford road. Not sure what they were up to!

@Meepmeep, if I recall it was rounder than that, but it was black and I wasn't looking carefully, so very possibly the same person.

@Fimm think it was the 3 wheeler - was in a maindoor garden in Thirlestane road at one of my spots.

How about this for a spot. Well, a deduction really.
Went for lunch with my boss whose brother has just moved to Edinburgh to start a new job. Conversation wandered to where and doing what. "Oh, some sort of programming thing for a finance company down by Ocean Terminal" said she. "Oh, I know of a guy who works down there doing something similar".
Conversation wandered off again and then we started talking about house hunting because said brother has moved in with said boss and she would like it to be a short stay as possible. "Oh, I know a guy who has been house hunting by working out how well it fits in with his cycling commuting plans" says I.
"Oh, my brother was telling me about someone at his new job that did that too" says boss.
"I wonder if that's Dave" I mused.
"Brother said they went for lunch and talked about logging cycling data and putting it into spreadsheets" she replied.
"That's Dave".

Recumbent being wisely walked across the Slateford aqueduct on Wednesday morning. It seems to have front shock absorbers, but I'm not sure I'd want to ride it across either...
