Indeed, at the very last moment a waving SRD nheading in the opposite direction - hopefully caught my late wave back! (was in my orange On-One top - though getting warm enough finally for the cc jersey to come out).
Just before that, crossing at the lights from the Meadows Works, Mr Andrew Burns again (still in his big red jacket, must be gettingawfully warm) - and helmetless again (I mention this only because for people in the public eye, even the local public eye, choosing not to wear a helmet can probably backfire quite badly).

I did feel a great sense of connection spying you bare-headed across there (sorry about getting the jersey wrong). But I also worry that cyclechic may try to snap me now :(

Thought I'd log in for old times' sake to CCE to declare my last ever 'spot' before the family and I set off to our new life in the USA.
And that honour goes to...
...SRD this morning, post school drop-off, as I was en-route to the same school with my two nippers.
Take care CCE!

Agreed. Best of luck, miggy_magic!
I counted four other Decathlon Triban 3s (5 if you include Mr MeepMeep's bike - but I'm not) at PoP2 on Sunday. I particularly coveted the red saddle on one of them, though I wasn't sure about the one with yellow tyres! Some upgrades that have provoked thought nonetheless.

@MeepMeep, probably wrong thread but considering a triban 3 as my first road bike. Office has just joined cycle to work scheme and decathlon listed - any thoughts? (Good or bad). Price seems too good to be true

New triban3 not red anymore, which was a big plus in my book. Gets good reviews. The triban7 is better spec 'd. But £599 is obviously dearer. However, if you use cycle to work brings it down. I always go for max I can afford in the scheme to obtain maximum reduction and best bike.

Last time I was in Decathlon, they were still stocking some of the older style Triban 3 models with carbon forks. Not sure of stock levels (probably poor knowing Decathlon) or even the other differences between the two but my one (older version) has been great. The Triban range are easily worth another couple of hundred on the RRP.
I've had mine for commuting and longer weekend rides now for over a year with few issues. Some folk have had a common problem of the bearings somewhere in the rear wheel going which makes the cassette freewheel so you can't put power through the drive train but wheels under two year warranty and I've not experienced this myself.
For the price, it's a great first road bike or a great wee bike to wreck as a winter commuter. I only had to find alternate transport over the winter due to snow and ice a handful of times.

cb leaving Haymarket yesterday evening (I was in MAWIL mode and behind him so he possibly didn't see me) and again this morning (when we did acknowledge one another).

@fimm, no I didn't spot you yesterday. If you thought I was walking slowly through the tram carnage it was because I was stuck behind a man who was scrutinising his smartphone, rather than the way ahed, and causing confusion with just about every person going the other way.
First time on the train in ages, and today it was cancelled. Not a good start.

@cb I only caught up with you yesterday when you were getting on your bike on Dalry Road. I'd been buying tickets. I thought I might catch you up as I was on my road bike, but you vanished!
Bad luck with the train today.Posted 11 years ago # -
"but you vanished!" = turned left into Dalry Place.
I'd probably go that way all the time were it not for the WAR zig zags and Leamington Road being one way.

This afternoon, an older gent walking along Porty prom in club top, casquette, etc. By his side he was guiding an Ordinary, in beautiful condition.
Prom way too buy to cycle on, thronged with folk enjoying the sunshine.

Also today, lots of children taking part in cycle training with Bikeability: morning and afternoon sessions at Towerbank primary, Portobello.
One of the trainers said they're piloting weekend sessions there, to try and reach younger kids and get parents more involved. Certainly there were some small youngsters there today. Coming to a primary school near you?

Recombodna following a dad with happy nipper in a tagalong coming up to the King's Theatre junction. I waved, but was disguised as a cyclist with no bike.
Mrs DNA behind?

Min-tastic morning. Sadly mainly because I was running slightly late, so couldn't stay for a longer chat.

Guilty as charged.
Was also Spotted by Bruce of this parish, which made me muse on the notion that we're not actually one brain/person, but instead a dozen or so specialised minds that talk to each other with varying degrees of success.
I've intermittently been racking my brains for months trying to remember Bruce(for we used to work together) but I couldn't for the life of me remember which one of my former colleagues was called Bruce.
Then I saw a fella waving at me at the foot of my road and instantly thought hey look it's Bruce I used to work with and waved back.
Some dozen metres down the road, one bit of my brain mentioned this to another and I thought: haaaaaang on...
