Another councillor who cycles -
Didn't know that this one did.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
Fetching Thorn tourer in Paxton House on Sunday. Matching red SON and Rohloff, well-loved Brooks, brilliant sunshine.
A fine day to be out.
Wilming Tin this morning heading along Brougham Street with what appeared to be a box of fireworks jammed into his Carradice. We rode and chatted a bit as I caught up with him only to get the horn of some driver who wanted to change lane and get to the lights (which were red and about 20m ahead at this point) in front of us.
The ASL was entirely full, standing room only, of bicycles plus one "superbike" type motorbike that roared off on amber almost taking out one cyclist in the process. Always troubles me to find such high-powered vehicles in the ASL as they aren't in the habit of making gentle starts away from the lights.
Was Will Mington on his rekaffenated ride? Did you hear the clicky wheels Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng
-> ...ooooong
before you saw him?
:D
Need a few little bits for the Kaff Dave. I've put the wheels on though, just so it looks nice on the cleaned frame (though it's definitely showing its age!), planning to finish the build this coming weekend so I can Kaff-commutable again from Monday.
Oh, and it was a Ukelele in the Carradice for the Smudgeling.
And thanks again to WC for the donation, although the aforementioned Smudgeling has yet to wake up and notice lol (though WC has photographic evidence!)
Scotrail doublepost sry!
Single Cycle PC (female) heading east along St John's Road just past Drumbrae. Thought she was about to get swiped by an Airlink bus that was pulling out from the stop.
Are there more cycling polis around? I've seen quite a few recently and saw that there are several bikes parked in the Corstorphine Police Station yard.
Hope so, more police on bikes can only be a good thing.
I saw her too, just past the zoo...
EDIT: Actually, she was headed West when I saw her. You must have saw her on the way back.
I often see a gaggle (collective noun) of polis cyclists around Haymarket yards some mornings - doing laps around little blue cones. I guess it's some kind of training course.

Not sure if this counts as a spot. Did walk past someone last week as I was heading back into work at Trinity (after nipping out for more rocket fuel snacks) with an impressive Dolan fixed and beard - #Uberuce?
I was tempted to comment to them on the lovely bike, but I'm sure it always comes across as a bit creepy when I try it.
Spyttefeighre, atop the High St.
Probably more than half of CCE taking advantage of free bacon. Were the speeches any good?
Sorry I didn't get a chance to stick around and speak to more CCE and POPers. Had to get to work for my second free breakfast and a meeting.
Winner!
I was tempted to comment to them on the lovely bike, but I'm sure it always comes across as a bit creepy when I try it.
Not at all. I'm not aware of any cyclists who wouldn't welcome a "nice bike"-style compliment.
"Not at all. I'm not aware of any cyclists who wouldn't welcome a "nice bike"-style compliment."
Can't for the life of me remember who, but I was speaking to someone about this and made the same sort of comment - after all, I've been told I have a nice bike before, and it's lovely to hear. But this person had tried it with someone (on an old Colnago I think) and been blanked completely. Folk like that don't deserve nice bikes... ;)
Mr Roibeard out enjoying the lunchtime sun in the Meadows (would have stopped, but was on a bike shop mission!).

Rapha on a brommie you know it's serious, it's really serious.
As morrisey used to sing
This bike caught my eye. I'm aware of a deep rimmed bike with gold rims that parks up at Forrest Road but haven't done photo yet.
This one though had to be photographed. Lawnmarket tends to be the preserve of the various Ferrari's and Aston Martins used by the Gold Brothers.
This one though ticks all the boxes.
• White unbranded frame
• Blue narrow seat to keep you on your toes
• Blue rims
• Blue tyres
And a blue belt drive! So it is a good example of a real custom bike (what do you mean it comes from Amazon?!)

Blue belter in Lawnmarket by LaidBackBikes, on Flickr
Spotted Riffian this morning nr Crewetoll.
Blue airnimal folding "large wheel" bike on Broomhouse path. Bullhorn bars with red grips. One of Laidback's?
On a little ramble from Threipmuir to Flotterstone this afternoon saw a bloke on a nice Pinnacle cyclocross bike, complete with double panniers and handlebar bag. Was jealous - beautiful day in the pentlands, looked a lot of fun and I've been eyeing up that bike for a while now.
.
Reciprocal spot of DaveC yesterday. Also WC heading westbound onto Meadowbank Terrace last night.
ICDaveC on the strangely empty north stretch of the NEPN. It was much busier from Crewe Toll southwards.
I didn't look closely enough to check but I suspect I was later wheelsucked by the Drylaw-to-Roseburn Wheelsucker again.
@wp, wave next time. Everytime I say hi and wave you just give me a puzzled look.
