"...or it serves some other purpose."

Additional light-mounting fixture? If I hadn't converted to dynamo last year I'd probably still be considering rigging a quickly-released length of pipe to my bars for attaching lights and batteries and bells to.

I think I spotted same red-MTB riding Go-pro touting cyclist the other afternoon outside Lidl in Dalry. I caught him on camera but the image wasn't worthy of keeping as the fisheye effect of the lens makes people on the other side of the road seem very ant-like

A dapper PS walking in Waverley Station yesterday evening as I hurried for the 1800 train for Inverkeithing.

On the towpath today heading home, two people in the space of a couple of minutes with Contour headcams.

    Firstly this one:

    Then this:

This then brings me to a further observation: I think that the first one is Dave of this parish. That's a pretty distinctive bike and it's got a hub dynamo and light. Clearly, I filmed him on my Contour HD. I too had a hub dynamo, and I too had my Cyo light on and I too was wearing a red top. All a bit spooky.

I've no idea who the second chap is, although he's a regular towpath commuter of several years' standing who's only recently sprouted a camera on his head.

Motion and compression artifacts make it look oddly unlike Dave, but if that isn't his White Fright, then I think he should call for his copyright lawyers, cos someone's ripped it right off.

Thats definitely Dave, same top he had on after he departed our canal dynamo exchange 5 minutes earlier.

Two today, neither of which I think spotted me waving from about 2 feet away :)

That was indeed Dave. I'd recognise those 3/4 length trousers anywhere.

@SRD it was a very late recognition on my part. I was probably actually past you by the time I waved.

Someone mentioned to me that they wave and smile at everyone they pass on the NEPN and never get a reaction. Then they went out with a friend one day who mentioned how everyone on the path waved and smiled at her. Didn't take long to click that it was the delayed reaction response to the lead rider.

The cyclist who's probably Dave again this evening on the towpath.

To Kaputnik's point, although I saw his bright light from some way off, by the time I'd thought "I recognise those handlebars", we were past each other and I didn't get the chance to wave. With a closing speed of 30mph plus, you don't get long to recognise someone.

If we meet again I'll do my best to wave a bit sooner, then Dave (if it is he) can work out who I am.

Busted! by the Magnificent Octopus, on Flickr

Parking wardens finally caught up with the (I assume) Estate Agent's persistent red line / cycle lane parked Lotus yesterday. Couldn't help but shake a wee victory fist. Hope they towed it and caused a lot of damage to the plastic bodywork in the process.

I wasn't looking at passing cyclists' faces at that point as I was trying to spot a street-name sign to find out what Murieston Place was called, in case I need to refer to it again when someone tries to barge out of it at me last Sunday.

There was a man going Roseburnwards from the red bridge who was only using his right leg and whose left crank was possibly missing this morning. Anyone?

I completely missed you, wingpig. The yellow was probably the bungee on the back of the bike. I'd been to a Doors Open Day event and then the record shop, so was trundling homewards enjoying the sun on my arms and with my brain mostly in neutral.

On the bike racks at the Tesco Metro near Meggetland, a good quality (Abus?) D-lock and cable.

D lock secured to Sheffield stand. Cable secured to D-lock. Cable cut clean through. No bike.

I don't know whether this was theft or lost key, but either way it was a bit of an eye-opener. I thought that braided cable was relatively secure, but this one had a completely clean cut: someone had been through it with something in just one go. It must have only taken seconds.

Spotted Mr SRD and miniSRD tandemming through the big Blackford junction this afternoon. Quite impressed with Mr SRD's assertive road positioning. I was in disguise as a passenger in a car.

Later spotted Olympic Chris's Laid Back trike with the motorbike panniers, parked near Cameron Toll.
