Kuwahara lugged steel bike yesterday morning. Unusual and handsome.

E.T. and Elliot rode a Kuwahara BMX.

Kaputnik (I think) on the Broomhouse path going homeward this evening.

Have you currently got two rear lights - a solid and a flashy one? Did you go down the new path toward carrick knowe?

You were just slightly too far in front to be sure

    @Nelly yes, yes and yes.

Have the dynamo light low on mudguard and the Comet Moon on blink mode on the seatpost. And was making a delivery to a colleague in Roseburn so took the new path. Lights are out on part of it which makes it a really nice ride with good lights in the dark.

Nice to briefly meet Arellcat this evening and see the amazing machine for the first time sitting impressively outside Laid Back Bikes....

Man who stopped at my gate to ask what type of light my rear blinky was: it's a Smart Lunar R1.

I spotted PS in jaunty tweed strolling along princes street. I was in suit, said hello and he gave convincing hello back but not sure he connected me to old guy failing to cling on to the pace he and Kaps were setting round the pentlands

Don't worry, we all feel a little older trying to keep up with those two speedsters

Thought I saw a ninja Kaps on the canal towpath today whilst I was disguised as pootler?

No drama Bruce, would have shouted if I was in bother :-) . Had my stuff on a handy gritbin just off the road hence you wouldnt have seen me. I had co2, so inflated in seconds - its always good practice anyway, managed to refit the gatorskin with just thumbs so all good.

Mr wingpig on SMW. I even remembered his proper name. But he was paying too much attention to pedestrians to notice me.

I wonder is the guy who overtook me this morning on Holyrood Rd an CCE regular? I'm not usually overtaken on the way to work! Caught at the lights at Fountainbridge/Lothian rd. I was in my red long sleeved jersey and lycra shorts with helmet cam.

Pashley Roadster Sovereign left unlocked outside Gorgie Sainsbury. Burly Krypto lock still in the frame bracket.

I only had my D, therefore couldn't lock my steed to it, so I asked the security bloke if he wanted to bring it inside. Wasn't his responsibility, apparently. In his shoes I'd have done it just for something to do, given he was the most underworked person I've seen all week, and I include myself in that despite having had five glorious mornings off.

Thus I set about on a mission to find the Pashley owner. Seconds after resolving to do this, I realised it was likely to be nigh impossible to spot a Pashley Roadster rider, given they are almost certainly not dressed like a cyclist. Nary a trace of hi-viz or synthetic fibre was in my mind as I stalked from Household Cleaning to World Food in search of my prey.

Luckily the owner was carrying a pannier bag, so I homed in to finish today's act of random kindness. Turns out he was confident that the frame lock(which I had forgotten Sovereigns had) would deter thieves.

He finished shopping at much the same time as me, so we had a natter as we unlocked. What a lovely gent he was, too.

Unlocked Pashley, first thought - frame lock.

Not sure that would stop someone lifting it and putting it in a van if they wanted it?

Does each frame lock have a unique key? How easy would it be to unpick?

Was the burly krypto only for longer periods of being apart from the bike?

    I do like a pashley

While we chatting at the Sheffields, I did demonstrate to him that hefty as they are, they can still be picked up and carried one handed, so I advised use of the burly Krypto for short lockups too.

He did point out that the type of bike scrotes are looking for really isn't an awesomesauce grandpa roadster, which sounds like a fair point, although I admit I don't know exactly what goes on inside the velokleptomaniacal mind.

Handsome device, for sure, although like Dave of this parish, the Sturmey Archer 5-speed hub was giving him grief.

Used to say drop handlebar red bikes immune from theft but since wiggo, cav etc they will nick mostly anything.

The five speed is main drawback, did I ever mention my preference for sturmey archer three speed?

Ok for flat but up hill very heavy so need to change gears, tht is the beginning of the end for SA 5 speeds and nexus 8s, actually having to change through the range.and in the case of the nexus, jumping from the 1-4 range on to the other set. From 5-8 and back plus any water ingress and you are goosed

Cyclist at Haymarket taking photo of rearmost taxi sticking out of rank.

Red tandem and folded Brompton next to one another at Haymarket bike racks (not that I think they were connected, just they were next to one another in the racks).

Father and son cycling up the Missoni bike lane. They have lights and he was on outside with hand round lads shoulder. Bike lane was actually clear and traffic ok.
Stops at red light. I start to cross with Max the dog just as they set off.
    Close one for Max...!
Continental I thought as no helmets or yellow stuff - no-one on here? They were heading to castle where they would be forced to dismount of course!

All part of the many and varied ways people use bikes. Certain they thought that their pootle over the green man was a textbook safety move.
