@k very kind, but you know you would have caught/overtaken me - you have 10(ish) years, fitness and gears over me ;-)

That may be, but it's not to say your route-finding through traffic isn't better than mine!

Ambulance, and police car on Meadows. Cyclist talking to police, few other cyclists milling about the immediate area.
Posted 10 years ago # -
This morning, Morningsider.
Unconnectedly yesterday evening, an ambulance at Haymarket (eastbound side) at sixish. Cause of presence not visible.

Ambulance, and police car on Meadows
In the park itself, or on Melville Drive?
Posted 10 years ago # -
They were on Middle Meadow walk, about 8 or 10 meters (hmm, maybe 5m) down from the junction with North Meadow walk. My initial guess was an incident on, or just past the junction.

This morning, leaving the commie pool, a lady dressed only in a towel and clutching various items of swim-related gear. She unlocked a road bike and rode off towards the park. Considering how nippy it was first thing I hope she didn't have far to go.

How do you know she was dressed only in a towel, eh? :-o
On second thoughts, maybe I don't want to know! ;-)

Were you late this morning, paulmag ?
Posted 10 years ago # -
That would have been fimm, then, also spotting the behazardlit tram down Haymarket Yards.

Arellcat and the red torpedo passed me on Myreside Road this evening and then vanished into the distance. I'd like to say that she only got so far ahead because I have a bad cold that's sapping my performance, but that would not be true. It's true that I have a cold, but even without one I wouldn't have been able to keep up with her as I was totally, comprehensively and utterly outclassed.

That's quite a good likeness...
Except for the scar, beard & earings...
Posted 10 years ago # -
Bakfiets or similar analogous front-cargo thing being propelled by a bearded man who looked a bit like Crowriver up Leith Walk/Leith Street.

Think I happened across Dave C on the A90 path this morning on the way into Edinburgh, tending to a tyre/tube related repair. Several seconds after slowing to see if any help was required my (recently fitted) chain snapped....which it then did a second time several miles later largely due to the inadequate job I did reconnecting it!
My least favorite job breaking/fixing chains. >:(

Spotted AlanR hightailin' it down the Lanark Road this morning past Slateford aqueduct. I waved but was probably hidden by cars.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Dave, foldering it south along the Roseburn.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Dave, foldering it west along the towpath this evening, just past the Slateford aqueduct.

Must have been a bit behind you G.R. because I spotted self same Dave past the outdoor gym at Wester Hailes park. Think he was on a Raleigh 20?
Posted 10 years ago # -
@deckyardnnn. Not me govn'r. I did happen across the same guy by the side of the A90. Giant black n white bike? Stopped to help him realign his rear wheel and top up his tyre. He'd punctured amd his first spare tube's valve had snapped in half. He was heading for Edinburgh so I didn't offer a spare tube.
I made sure he was fine before leaving him. Caught up with black single speed red light glued to drops bar end guy. Didn't see you sans working chain though so I assume you fixed it and was on your way?
Posted 10 years ago # -
Yeh that sounds like the same guy Dave, apologies for the mistaken ID! :P
I did fix my chain but bent the link and I knew when I set off it was a matter of time before it pinged again, which it did on Queensferry Road. Gingerly road into work after removing further links and reconnecting. Bought a new chain and fitted before heading home so all good (and a couple of PRs on Strava so clearly holding well!)

Did you use powerlinks?
You still need a chain splitter to remove the broken bits....

This is the CCE Dave surveillance system in action. As the poor fellow makes his innocent way across Edinburgh, a series of mobile tracking stations monitor and report his position...
Maybe we could develop it into a simple version of Strava: 23 minutes from wingpig to kaputnik = new personal record for Dave.
Posted 10 years ago # -
Dave was spotted on the innocent? Thats some detour....
Posted 10 years ago # -
Yeh it had a power link Dave but couldn't free it. Carry a chain breaker so just had to be careful not to push the pin right through!!
Posted 10 years ago # -
Good on you. Even in the garage, I can't get a pin back in the second plate. I just remove the bits and pop in a powerlink.
Posted 10 years ago # -
A powerlink tool is a worthwhile investment

kaputnik this morning on Melville Drive - probably got the shout in a bit late...
Posted 10 years ago # -
@Algo I thought I may have heard something, but was running well late after having had one of those "did I remember to turn the iron off?" moments about 10 minutes after leaving home the first time.
