Saw 2 roadies cycling on the Edinburgh bypass @ 12:45 near Hermiston Gait, while I was going the other direction in the car. Scary stuff.

I saw two people on a tandem laden with panniers and pulling a trailer decorated with Scottish flags heading for Musselburgh this morning. Impressive.

Dozens of bikists in dalmeny estate this afternoon riding too and from SQ I assume.

All shapes and sizes and varying shades of red. I was disguised as a roady feeling a bit fat after lots of ales last night.

Also spotted a VERY dapper gent riding a fully laden touring bike. Not quite sure where he was off to but he looked very warm...

Bwahaha! I need one of those.

I saw a guy in East Claremont Street on a sort of huge steroidal chopper thing.

Canaling my way home on Friday, I had to doff my polystyrene bicycle hat to an older gent riding a fully chromed cruiser fitted with ape-hanger bars. Perhaps it is the 'steroidal chopper thing'? It was magnificent.

Yes, that could possibly be it. There was certainly a lot of chrome involved. I didn't really pay much attention to the rider as I was too busy staring at the bike!

Yesterday, late morning, around West Port ... (realise I don't have the word for it) ... a tandem ... except there were three riders ... what do you call a tandem for three? It's not a tricycle ...

Anyway ... spotted ... whatever it was.

I may have seen this at the weekend, although there were only two riders on it at the time. At first I thought it was a tandem with a child seat on the back, but definitely three sets of pedals.

Lastnight approaching Ferrytoll I was flagged down by two Finish touring cyclists who were exiting the toll. I stopped and was asked if they could cycle across the bridge. I pointed them to the path I'd just come down. They asked if it was a busy as the road they'd just come down, the exit ramp off the M90! I give them directions, enquired as to their destination and asked if they had had a nice tour round Scotland, as they were finishing lastnight, getting a train to London to fly back to Finland today.

Also spotted acsimpson at Cramond Brig this morning.

I'd just like to say that Madame IWRATS cycled to work today, unprompted.

If any of you spot a lady on a red white and blue home-brew commuter on or around (Old) Dalkeith Road please do say hello (or offer dire predictions about what will happen if she doesn't get hub gears and take primary properly).

Uberuce, I think, cycling past Haymarket Yards on Monday at 6pm ish. I was on a train that wasn't going anywhere (well it did move eventually).

I did get Spotted by someone in Morningside, but was past before I could see who was calling my name. Sounded like a young man, so possibly a former charge of mine.

shuggiet Spotted me on Ashley Terrace too.

Daves C ("Upright Dave") and McCraw ("Reclining Dave") last night on the NEPN.

Not sure the former recognised me as it's the first time our paths will have crossed in that part of town. We waved hello to eachother anyway.

I was out for a walk in the Pentlands on Monday evening - lovely. Spotted the big purple balloon over West Kip. Always makes me happy. You sometimes see them from reverse angle on the M74

Mr IWRATS this a.m. on canal towpath but too narrow to stop to chat

wonder when the shrubbery is to get pruned? Council or Dave Guerilla Gardener? [there is a lot of nonsense about shrubberies in Monty Python and Holy Grail script but not sure it is in the film, will ask an expert)

There was a mower and a hedge trimmer out on NEPN betwixt Coltbridge and Craigleith this morning. Doing a fine job but really should be followed by a sweeper as the path is now covered in shredded briars and thorns and twigs.

Gembo hailed me (Who's that? He hailed you?) at Myreside as I forced him into the bushes with my poor positioning.

The Wester Hailes Rat was lying dead in the middle of the towpath. As the Wester Hailes Crows had yet to begin dismantling it, I guess it had recently been run over by a bicyclist.

Lilac Helmet Lady hailed me with a cheery 'Morning!' as I cycled far too fast round the Wester Hailes Education Centre, having watched the Tour go past my mother-out-law's neck of the woods on ITV Player last night. In my head I was leading a breakaway over the Col du Peripherique, in reality I was still a fatty on a ratty hybrid heading for pesky desk job.

Bummer for the WH rat as it had paid for it's holiday to George St decking.

    Tour good on itv player

Col du Climpy is out there in West Lothian S Lanarkshire badlands (including Headless Cross). CCE trip beckons with mandatory Apple Pie Bakery Pit Stop. Back on the whang if people prefer al fresco the truck stop is now advertising that Cyclist Welcome {one at a time now]

CCE outing to an absurdist climb in the Lanarkshire badlands?

    Sounds good to me.

Cycling up the hill going South towards Kings Buildings on the QBC, I passed a lady and gentleman riding at a very leisurely pace up the hill on the cycle path. Fair enough.

Each had a lead in the left hand with a Spaniel trotting alongside on the footpath. Seen dog walkers before in parks etc but never with the cyclist actually on the road!

Lotsa folk out today, but notable spot was of three or four young folk in cycle chic but on solidly kitted tourers and hauling the entire world, especially the fella at the back, up the hill. That was...help me out Amir and Alex...as we came down from Carrington I think.

My wife was slightly disappointed/excited to see an identical sage green Bobbin Birdie as hers down at Cramond. We said "snap" and complemented the owner on her bike - she returned the comment.
