Spotted - one small van with a distinctive yellow sticker on the back saying "Cyclists - " and then something I couldn't read but which I assume was warning against passing on the left. Om a very small van, belonging to some constricution type complany whose TLA I have forgotten. You have to assume that some fleet manager somewhere decreed that every single company vehicle had to have a sticker.

Dr bike on the canal tonight giving tune ups and free lights, would have stopped but hurrying home to see son who had shoulder fractured at PE today playing rugby. Had I known he was playing rugby for PE I would have advised him to never have the ball or be anywhere near it. Rugby is very bad. Shoulder only fractured not dislocated.

Saw shuggiet on way in and big GED and Alan K not on here then on way back, Alan K again, big high five, and Greenroofer

"Had I known he was playing rugby for PE I would have advised him to never have the ball or be anywhere near it."

Surely you mean advised told to wear a helmet and shoulder pads (like they do in America).

    Today's "PE"

Since I had decided not to go to Fort William today, on account of too much weather tomorrow, I took the motorbicycle out to Port Edgar this afternoon to look at the new Forth Road Bridge progress. En route I spotted Scoosh on his recumbent bike, so I stopped and said hello.

@arellcat I went across the railbridge to aberdour for work last week and noticed the new bridge making progress. I was back across this morning and even further out so the thing is clearly coming together.

@Arrellcat - and very nice it was to see you and thanks for stopping for a chat :)
Nice bike too - even if it did have a very large motor attached !

One of Laidbacks Fuegos out on with a tester this morning on Broomhouse path. Nice chap - possibly South African?

I presume a different sort of "tester".

    "

A tester is the British slang for a pure time triallist, and wikipedia lists this as “slightly derogatory” – a time-trialist who tends to over-specialize in the discipline. What do you think of this? I’ve heard time trialling devotees refer to themselves as testers as well as roadmen use the word in a slightly disparaging way.

That path not much use for continuous speed!

Good to see this getting some 'traditional' publicity.

Yes... he's a runner but fancies doing more cycling and likes the idea/comfort of a laid back bike. Bike he had was a Gaucho which is twin 26" so higher. He's quite tall.

recombodna on Murray Move business on Regent Road. Mutual spot with my 'grown up' daughter up ahead on her Raleigh Chiltern 3 speed 'rescued from a basement bike'.

She's getting back into cycling and did an LB tour round to Beach House and back through Leith Links.... think she was impressed to see some progress on connectivity.

@NiallA this morning! Wester coates again but no turbo today...slower progress whilst shouting constant stream of "how to" instructions at our eldest...

@laidback. As I went past you I recognised the paper bike..... Then realised it was you. Never seen you cycling in such a strange upright position......

I think I spotted DaveC on the NEPN somewhere near Craigleith, but Strava flyby doesn't confirm it (yet), so I could be totally wrong.

Spotted shuggiet on towpath again today. He asked me to change my mind. As we are towpath comrades we had already high fived each other and there was no ill feeling. Unlike the guy I spoke to canvassing last week who felt his yes sticker indicated his voting intention. I said he might have changed his mind. Now he did not like that.

I had a Naw sticker on my helmet. Got quite a few smiles. But can't draw any conclusions.

Ah. I didn't say about what, you had to change your mind. You were moving too fast for me to notice a Naw sticker.. I had already seen an earlier morning CCE comment from you saying that you were doing 'WoL'. So I said 'Change your mind?'..as you were in the outskirts of Wester Hailes instead of WoL bound..Nothing political before breakfast on the towpath, until you'd had your cereal.

You shouldn't be allowed on the towpath until you've had your breakfast!

Ah sorry shug to cast narsturtiums, I was pondering the WoL path but then I had a postal vote to put in the post box which is the other way. Came back on the WoL path tonight, 'twas a little damp but drier near the top so not too bad.

Had my porridge with honey and Greek yoghurt probably explains the high five hardness or maybe the beechams all in one linctus which has the pseudo ephedrine in it

I had some Sudafed once about six years ago and spent the evening twitching worryingly, so now check for the absence of pseudoephedrine in things.

Spotted a chap with a "Naw" sticker on his pannier.

Also saw either the same small white van with a "Cyclists - something or another" or another very similar one from the same company; but again I can't remember what it is called. Next time I'll try and get a photo, or at least stop and put the name into my phone.

@fimm, oh yeah? Was it by any chance a yellow ortlieb pannier? If not, it might be catching.

Definitely ortlieb, but I can't remember what colour. I was just leaving PY but I couldn't remember if the cyclist appeared to be stopping, or was just passing by...
