    DEBRA

It was a rather unusual shop because it didn't sell anything.
You see, everything in that shop was a thing that somebody had once lost…

Why does the chain guard extend quite so far forward as to almost overlap the front wheel?

Forgot to say that I spotted 2Kool4Skool in a new and alarming outfit last week. He is now dressed as a Guy Ritchie mockney country squire type character.

The bar end mirrors have remained in place as has the skater style goatee, otherwise I'd never have known it was him.

He has gone all tweed ride on us

Had good laugh with John on towpath thursday

Promised him I wouldn't work too hard that day (he had encouraged me in this in previous banter) he said why change the habits of a lifetime etc

I haven't spotted 2Kool4Skool lately, possibly due to my drifting to a slightly later time-slot on the canal... I have, however, developed a nodding relationship with The Dark Talker, who I have now heard talking at least once.

Lilac Helment Lady, on the other hand, blanked me twice in as many weeks - once last week, likely the result of her being blinded by the low sun, and once this morning, probably because I had gone too far with waterproofing.

Tit-for-Tat and the Dark Talker have resisted all my nods and hullos. The weather today suited the Talker's full winter MTB garb, and I did think of congratulating him. Lilac Helmet Lady is less effusive than before in her greetings. I suspect my Yes tee-shirt has led to her believing me to be a crazed nationalist.

2Kool is a two-wheeled chameleon. I've begun to wonder why I've never seen him and The Suit at the same time. I did though have a perfect double with 2Kool last week - passing him at exactly the midpoint of the aqueduct on both outward and return commutes.

I befriended Talker by asking if he needed a hand after he had pulled off the towpath as I was approaching after work a month or two ago - he reassured me that he was just checking something because he had just had his bike serviced... This event appears to have been directly responsible for nodding

The Talker was deep in conversation at Kingsknowe tonight. I'd like to think he was on the phone to you.

"just checking something because he had just had his bike serviced"

I guess he used Halfords for the service then. Most things need checked after their services.

He commutes into town so was heading out again following the service, which makes Halfords seem unlikely. Maybe I will enquire and then update the bicycle shop thread...

Please do think what you like IWRATS, but I feel that I should clarify that we have not exchanged numbers, yet.

I just like the idea of the canal as a community of people bundled along the waterway for a bit before going their seperate ways...

I'm getting the hang of spotting you...

It might not look it but that's a friendly wave I'm giving and not a fist being shaken.

    Same time tomorrow?

You're very easy to spot. I'm surprised you can recognise me - although maybe my pannier bag gives me away somewhat!

Bearded gent on a brompton (or some similar style of folder) with a gopro on his helmet at the one way system heading towards torphichen street.

I was in the left lane but then decided to head across to the right towards morrison street as the lights changed first that way and there was plenty of space. We shared a moment of joviality at having to brake and wait for a phone absorbed chap walking out into traffic.

@ARobcomp spotted similar myself on NEPN this morning c. 855AM, turned off at Roseburn together and he headed towards Haymarché. Could be the same. Think it was an orange and black Brommie.

About 6.15PM this evening at Picardy Place going downhill - bloke in yellow with gingery beard that I sat next to at PY a few weeks back but I can't remember your name, sorry :-O

Leith Walk was busy with cyclists this evening. I felt in the right mood to hold off the taxis.

Good to see you on your bike again.

Possibly someone from here? Friendly chap at Ashley Terrace/Polwarth Terrace lights about 9:40am who totally reasonably pointed out the futility of my rear light in daylight ... you were of course right, but to be fair it was a lot mistier where I'd set off from :)

The BBC News have just done a montage of last night, and I'm pretty certain Kaputnik was pictured, looking pensive...

HankChief heading out to start his epic 200+km audax, and then 4 minutes later when it became apparent we had taken different routes to the A90.
