Recumbent (Dave on High Baron?) turning left to head North at Kirkliston junction as part of 3 Glens Explorer? I was on my Gaucho heading east approaching the crossroads.

Ah might have been Darkerside - just read the Audax posts.

A possible Roibeard on Mayfield Road this morning. TBH the main thing I noticed was a fabulous attention-seeking bag speeding along the road, but it had a Brompton + rider behind it, and the rider rang the bell in a friendly Roibeard kind of way as he passed by.

@cc Most likely me, but it was the Brompton that spotted you rather than me...
Or more strictly, Brompton's famously self-ringing bell!

Spotted Baldcyclist at one of the Broomhouse crossings, was reversed by steveo shortly afterwards.

@Uberuce crossing road on the Saughton path. Well actually, he had spotted me and had conversed something in some sort of 'morning' language that I'm not quite familiar with.
I managed to grunt a "morning" in reply, but it wasn't until I was 50m down the path that the neurons in my brain managed to produce enough electricity for me to realise what had been said, and connect that with the beard. and this forum...

Aye, you were the first person I'd spoken to since recombodna, LaidBack and I went for a pint last night, so my voice was a touch on the mossy side.
The pedestrians crossing beside us might have deciphered it as 'Baldcyclist! Hi, it's Uberuce from the forum' the latter part of which they presumably wouldn't understand, and the former they would assume was verbal abuse.

Met SRD on North Meadow Walk just after 5pm, and we chatted for a bit as we were heading in the same direction. So, we're allowed to score a mutual spot for that one?

I've always assumed that anyone riding a bio-mechanically and aerodynamically optimised bicycle (that is to say a recumbent) must be sufficiently eccentric to also have a log-in to this forum.
So, hello to the recumbent rider wearing a hi-vis tabard and a red Giro helmet at 18h15 on Cluny Gardens, heading for Morningside Cross. Your friendly nod was very welcome.

indeed - most civilised (except for the traffic....)

@recumboris; yup, might've been me! Three 'bents out on Three Glens, but I do remember waving at someone around there...
I was on a white MetaBike. There was also a sparkly blue Bacchetta and a black Challenge.

This morning at around 8:15 I saw a helios tandem with Dad and daughter presumably on way to school going up MMW… they peeled off right at the top as I went over the lights (and badly overtook a schoolboy on a bike - apologies for bad judgement there to oncoming cyclist to whom I was a bit close…)

If I didn't Spot Dave on Slateford road just before 8am today, then I spotted a helmet-cammed person who looks like him in both front-of-head geometry and whippy pace.

Spotted a Backfiets on the East Craigs paths on Sunday. Was it anyone here?

Gave way to a Kona Ute with two black panniers on the towpath by Hailes Quarry this evening. We were manoeuvring around fishermen, and although strictly I had priority, I thought I'd let him through because he had a nice bike.
A bit further into town by the aqueduct I was following an attractive bike with a steel frame (I'd guess), black mudguards, drop bars and a very shiny chrome hub gear that was probably a Sturmey Archer.

Greeted the Mayfield Road Urban Arrow rider this morning, to his evident surprise. Didn't mention that if he lowers his saddle another inch he should be able to knee himself in the teeth properly.
On the canal a pleasing three body collision as @IWRATS, @jdanielp and "John/Rutger Hauer/Gembo's Ent" indulged in a three-way greeting.
Posted 10 years ago # -
But fortunately not a literal three body collision given that I perhaps didn't make it as clear as I might have that I was about to pull over to have a chat with John, despite being aware that somebody with an @IWRATS style bell was approaching from behind... Aside from having a chat, I was also intrigued to see what had happened to a guy on a racing bike who had pulled over just in front of me - a flat as it turned out, which he proceeded to fix. I would have offered help but he seemed competent.

@IWRATS Don't mention that saddle! We're having some, ahem, gravitational challenges with it & hope to get it replaced. :-) Mr Weezee seems to cope with it better than I do. That said, I'd never have it at 'optimal efficiency' height as two feet on the ground is necessary when stationary due to squirming human contents.

Spotted Alanr this morning tooling down the hill past Slateford aqueduct. I was in a huge bright red torpedo but not sure of a reciprocal spot.

Possible Dave this evening. Possible Dave's back yesterday evening.

IWRATS you are gonna miss this commute, get another job with same or different financial institution to west of Edinburgh? Else we can have December night out to commiserate. I vote diggers

A young chap (I hope) passed me on Gilmerton Road remarking cheerfully how effective my back light was. The thing was he was on an upright and when I got up to his speed he was going about 21 mph. Just shows what you can do (I did look for a motor). Looked like a young Nicholas Crane or perhaps Roibeard.

I didn't spot you, arellcat, I wish I had. Strange, since your beautiful velo-mobile is so visible. You'll see my other post in rubbish driving of today - I had a serious crash about ten minutes after that which has probably written-off another trike. is there a pattern here; maybe I'm doing something wrong? At least the writing-off car driver was really nice and apologetic ..

recombodna, Russell Road? The markings on the side of the van caught my eye when it was too late to look again.

Aha, I've seen that Bright Red Torpedo several times going up Braid Road while I was putting the bike away at the corner with Comiston Place. Nice to put a name to a machine.

@gembo
I like the idea of an Athletic Legs Club night out in the Athletic Arms. I may have some invitation cards made up to hand out to the usual suspects.
Next job will probably be at the Gogarburn Broiler Farm which smells like Satan's own gym kit.

We passed about a week ago. I did try a wave but think we had already crossed before recognition clicked.
Posted 10 years ago # -
I think you were cycling along within 500m of both Baldycyclist and Skotl earlier this week. I guess you were all travelling at a similar speed.
