"Sounds nice, might be flatter than the old railway.... ;-)"

    Flat is so yesterday.

Puff up the hill to Balerno and marvel at how the steam engines managed.

Admire the steel and bridgeworks produced by Arrol before the Forth Bridge.

Then swoop back down to the Canal.

Yes, I always think 'someone' should put up a plaque.

You don't count the memorial outside the Post Office then? Or were you thinking of a blue plaque thingy on the walkway?
Incidentally, "Spotted", loads of CCEers at PY this morning ;-))

    Not actually seen it.

"Or were you thinking of a blue plaque thingy on the walkway?"

    Yes.

Unless it's been moved, there is a large lump of stone outside the Currie Post Office with a plaque about Dougal Haston. Don't know when it was put up but I remember it "always" having been there when I was younger (so obviously years and years lol).

Anth (again) waiting to turn left on to the approach road.

  11. Behind a wee queue of cars? Whereabouts were you?

I got beeped at by the courier van behind, presumably for not riding on the left to be squeezed against the kerb (which is also the reason I don't scoot up the left there unless I can see someone is indicating right and I see exactly where the light sequence sits).

Yeah I think you were peeped at just as I passed on the other side of the road.

Anth if you've got ten minutes one day could I have a go on your kaff?

Spotted the last few days chained up next to me at work, Wilier Uno in Team Lampre colours. Frame alone costs about £2250. Has full Campagnolo Super Record and aero-spoked wheels. Interesting choice for a winter commuting machine...

  14. What the hell must the 'good' summer bike be like???

Steveo, aye, nae bother. How's Thursday grab you? (it's the next day I'm in all day).

Arellcat again in the same place as well, had the presence of mind to wave this time...

@Anth, where/when do you want to meet?

  16. Either lunchtime or after work is good for me - Atholl Crescent might be quite good. Virtually no traffic to spin about the road?

Atholl Crescent it is. Lunch time is probably better, 1230?

Steveo, so it was you! I did think to myself 'I wonder if...', but wasn't sure, so I didn't stop. I think I waved, though?

Smudge saw me first at TBC yesterday, though he hasn't mentioned it. Perhaps it doesn't count as I was still a lock away from re-mounting.

Got overtook by an On-One Pompetamine crossing South Gyle Broadway from South Gyle Road this morning; disappeared into the Aegon site, Edinburgh Park.

Someone with a Harpo-style clown's horn behind me on the towpath just now and a bloke with a long pointy ginger beard at the town side of the Slateford aqueduct who didn't dismount to go across it?

Also two actual foot-plod actually on the towpath path (which I've never seen before), on the aqueduct, seemingly heading to talk to a wee old bloke.

Quite a few cyclists on the Innocent Path this am. I am always surprised as to how many are travelling away from town (though I can't blame them).

    "a Harpo-style clown's horn"

I found my one of these, it was bought for comedy use but Id like to attach it to my new ride... if only I hadnt thrown the mount away some years ago.

I saw two WPCs on towpath last week too, on foot.

Kaputnik, yesterday on Gorgie Road turning right then fairly belting off up Robertson Avenue (easy to spot those yellow guards). I wasn't actually on two wheels last night, but if that was a typically timed Kaputnik manoeuvre then I'm bound to see you from the bike some time soon (probably as you race past me).

I shall keep my eyes open for you CB - I generally go that way 2 or 3 times a week, it all depends which way the lights change and what the traffic at the Gyle is like which way I head home. Now it's getitng lighter, there's much more chance for spotsies.

Chap on a flat-barred fixie heading along Broughton Road about 730PM, had 2 polo mallets tied to the top tube and had his feet up on the top tube as well, with his cranks spinning around below him.
