Arellcat recumbinating at the lights at junction of South St. David Street and Princes Street. We were quite literally perambulating across.

Slightly confusing sight in the distance in front of me on the towpath by the bypass last night: a triangle of red bike lights, with the base of the triangle quite widely spaced. Was it someone with a light on each pannier? Was it a UFO? Was it an interesting recumbent trike of some kind. Nearly: it was a chap towing one of those multi-purpose child trailer/buggy things with two red lights on the handles of the buggy bit. He was going at a fair speed, and peeled off onto Cultins Road.
I noticed that a couple of bikes coming towards us had a bit of a surprise in the dark: I think the trailer was taking up more of the width of the path than they expected and I think I spotted some slightly hasty braking/manoeuvring as they realised this.

Greenroofer raises interesting point for dark-time trailering along the canal; probably worthwhile demarkating the width of the trailer when viewed from the front by application of retroreflective tapes at its widest point, facing forwards. Or tack on a few spare white reflectors to the chassis.

Dave, going down the Hawthornvale slip onto the NEPN yester-eve.
I had to get a child's plastic garden table home from the allotment along the WoL on Tuesday evening, but fortunately found an old retro-reflective belt with which to adorn it to indicate its width.

@greenroofer - I think I saw him on crossing St John's Road yesterday morning. It confused me initially too and I had the benefit of some daylight.
Lighting trailers/tagalongs/childeseats is a real pain. So many lights are designed for seat posts that you end up having to bodge something.
I thought he'd done a good job from the rear, but didn't see it from the front.

I put reflective tape on the corners of our trailer, although it eventually came off and wasn't replaced. We didn't ever use it much after dark - at least in part because of the much-discussed difficulty of lighting it.

Lilac Helmet Lady on the Longstone aqueduct, who reports that she is well today.
A Gentleman just after the Scott Russell aqueduct, apparently replacing his left hand crank, which is an unusual roadside repair.

Oh, and Mr WeeZee, who I waved out into traffic (erk...) on Mayfield Road. Knees nowhere near chin now...

Possibly IWRATS in a new green jacket, joining the canal prior to Meggetland and then accelerating away from me? I base this on the fact that I exchanged a cheery smile with LHL just after she exited the aquaduct. The crank repair obviously went extremely smoothly because said Gentleman was nowhere to be seen when I passed by...

Confirmed IWRATS spot. Acceleration clearly insufficient for Doppler effect to turn jacket red.

Crank Repair Man looked just like my mate El Grande, without being him. Black jeans, black tee-shirt, hefty build, long ginger hair and beard.

It was very fleeting, but I'm pretty sure I saw an adult sized zombie walking along the Glasgow Road towards the path down to Morrisons at the Gyle, about 8.30. Face and probably entire head was sheet white. Did well not to fall off my bike trying to get a better look.

Biggest lorry / trailer I have ever seen, having a giant new transformer craned off it at the Cultins Road sub station this morning. Trailer had 16 axles, in two bogies of 8 with the load cantilevered in the middle. It needed two industrial-strength 4-axle lorries to haul it. The trailer also had a cab of its own and looked as if it could probably move under its own steam.
The reason this is related to cycling is that to access the sub-station, they have had to remove the barrier which blocks the cycling path access betwixt South Gyle Crescent and Edinburgh Park and forces you around via the pavement in a bottleneck with all the pedestrians. I think it's a vain hope that it will be put back in a less obstructive position.

@kaputnik - Impressive enough that I stopped to take a picture this morning. Could only get half of the trailer in shot.

@chrisfl I may have to claim a spot of you then, as there was a cyclist taking a picture as I did the same from the top of the steps at station level. You must have been on your way by the time I managed to get the whole proceedings in, crane and all (about the 8th attempt)

@kaputnik
When I was taking child 1 & 2 on the daily nursery run in the trailer, I had it Lt up like a beacon with the following:
2 led touches (white) mounted above the front white reflector with 90 degree brackets and cable ties. This showed exactly how wide it was.
3 rear (red) knog type lights on the handle of the trailer, side 2 flashing and centre steady.
1 knog (red) type light attached to the flag above the trailer, facing backwards.
2 valve attached LEDs (blue) on the wheels.
1 string of EL wire (red) fixed around the rear of the main trailer body to denote size and width from behind.
1 string of EL wire (blue) fixed around the sides of the main trailer body, for side visibility.
Then my usual front facing bike lights.
I liked pimping it out.

Couple of weird spots in the last week...
Today, @kaputnik in a Kirkcaldy pram shop. Of course it most probbably wasn't, but he looked like kaputnic, I then pondered how I knew what he looked like given I have never met Kaputnic.
One night last week, I could check strava to see which night I couldn't be bothered and got the train from Haymarket, spotted @fimm with her Brompton as we passed as I was entering the station. I may have had a perplexed look on my face, because again I have never met or seen this person but seemingly knew who they were.

@baldycyclist these spots are a bit derren brown? However, as with derren, there are facts. For example Kaputnik has young sandy who is too tall for the sling now and will be getting his head tickled by the kaputnik beard. So a pram is in order. Kirkaldy could be the go to destination for prams?
