Is cafe closed.... ?
This is the proposed test ride / try out / bike fun venue for Ligfiets Zondag on EdFoC so shame if it is.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

CHDOT said "I don't tend to spot many CCEers (apart from people I see too often to be worth mentioning here.) Yesterday I actually spotted DaveC going down Scotland St. I'm not often there at that time of day."
Ah yes I do recall thinking 'was that CHDOT??'
Hi!
Roibeard ploughing Causewayside on a bakfiets at lunchtime.
Bikefan at work (not on his bike)
A newish shiny black revolution trail finder with front marathon winter locked on to same rack as me (+1 other bike) at Haymarket.
Every Sheffield stand at haymarket had three bikes on it - don't you think so done would notice the unmet demand and do something about it?
"don't you think so done would notice the unmet demand and do something about it?"
Think CEC & Sustrans (still) on the case.
These things take time u no.
Esp if it involves NetworkRail...
Probably related to planning application 14/01389/FUL to increase the ground level for a gravity drainage system that will then cater for 12/03574/FUL (residential development of colony housing and flats including roads, landscaping and pedestrian connections).
Was quite a convoy crossing Meadows at around 7 tonight. Wedding transport by bike. Could only get this blurry shot. Around 20 rickshaws - a lovely sight. We'll need bigger paths if this catches on....
Rickshaw Wedding Convoy - North Meadows Path by LaidBackBikes, on Flickr
The East west path has had lots of bicycle signs painted on the path very recently
I noticed the bicycle symbols on NMW on the way home this evening; I'm sure that they weren't there this morning. Helpful.
Won't tell you how many times I have asked for them to finish that.
Two bridges further south-east from before. Also work going on on Smokey Brae's bridges. Also, the only known motor-vehicle chicanes in the city up round Abercorn/Meadowfield have been replaced with standard squeezepoints since I last went that way.
Possible spot of RichardlmPearson on old railwayline between Kirkliston and Newbridge this morning about 7.45
A cyclist wearing an orange jacket and a yellow helmet came through the Kirkliston crossroads and down through the houses and came onto the path about 100 yds ahead of me. Based on a previou description, thought it may be you and tried to catch up and got to within about 50yds but wasn't fast enough.
The Cyclist passed the man with the Wolfhounds just before the bridge over Lochend Rd and went straight on to Newbridge, whereas I took the wee hill down to Lochend Rd. When I emerged onto the A8 I was about 300yds behind...
@jdanielp at Gogar Station Road, now armed with loads of PoP posters/flyers for Heriot Watt campus. Alas no kingfisher.
Nice to meet you jdanielp!
shuggiet at Gogar Station Road bridge on the canal this morning, although maybe this doesn't count since we had arranged to meet so that I could get hold of some PoP material to take to Heriot-Watt. Also, no kingfisher.
Aha, great minds and all that. Nice to meet you too :)
On George Street this evening: a missing bollard, a padlock lying on the ground with the hasp still attached to part of it.
Gembo in fetching pink on the tow path this evening. As he intimated elsewhere, I was having an easier time than him at that point.
I think I saw Uberuce going down Redford Road this morning, although I may have been mistaken
@shuggiet did I spot but fail to actually recognise you (in which case sorry!) on the towpath this morning just beyond the Scott Russell Aqueduct? You were accompanying another cyclist at the time. The red jacket and pannier looked familiar as I was approaching, but I was failing to place it. Just after I overtook the word "kingfisher" drifted over to me which then triggered my memory. Oops.
Need 'I spotted the CCE kingfisher' badges.
@jdanielp I saw you twitch when I said Kingfisher. So I knew it was you. .:-)
Friskiffla, if you were on a yellow/green Brompton and wearing a fluoro helmet cover, then yes, that was me.
@chdot badges may be useful, but they could be expensive since I am not sure that we could justify a large batch.
@shuggiet is that why you said "kingfisher" or was the mention of it at that point in time merely coincidental?
It was purely coincidental as I was trying to persuade cycling companion of the merits of going further. She considered Kingfisher spotting to be absurd poppycock without chance of success. Instead she chose to sample the delights of @hankchiefs' GSR and it's soon-to-be new features. I on the other hand followed you at a discreet distance on the off-chance of a surprise spot.. No luck!
Ah, I could have validated the possibility of spotting a kingfisher if I had heard more. I wonder how she enjoyed GSR; Greenroofer's videos look terrifying! Apologies for failing to flush out a kingfisher for you to appreciate.
Bromptoning into town this evening. Stopped at the top of Canaan Lane watching traffic approaching from the east. See a bike light at the head of the approaching line of cars. 'Ah' I think 'interesting low bike light...looks like a recumbent...it is a recumbent...it's Arellcat'
By which time she was past and I was negotiating my exit with the car behind her and it was too late to exchange greetings.
I saw your Brompton, Greenroofer, and I think I looked up at its rider to see if it was anyone I recognised. It appears I still don't know what you look like! The car driver was annoying me a bit because it felt like I was being tailgated.
I was late riding home having stopped off at Laid Back to say hello, and ended up helping a prospective customer for an hour.
That reminds me, I passed a recumbent in Roseburn Park this evening around 5.30ish - Arellcat?
I was the guy in anonymous high viz commuter wear.
@Arellcat. Next time our paths cross (as they regularly seem to) I will make a concerted effort to introduce myself. To this end, if you are tootling along at what (for you) is a relaxed pace in the red torpedo on Colinton Road and you see a cyclist furiously pursuing you please ease off on the throttle and let me catch up.
