Having taken a look at the viva website linked to by SRD, I now feel very old, unbeautiful, unhip and unfashionable.

I'll not say anything about the Extravaganza ad

Tandem with a POP poster attached, outside the Roseburn. Think it was daisydaisy again.

Also witnessed a bloke having a clipless moment on Morrison Street, much to the amusement of his friend and the driver behind. There but for the grace of God.....

Stickman your clipless moment reminds me, I stopped to help an unfortunate Gent out on the Dalmeny Estate this morning. He has stood up to start climbing the hill when his crank had fallen off. Sadly my Crank Brothers multi tool's largest hex wasn't long enough to assist and he was faced with a long one pedalled ride to Inverkeithing and a stop at Sandy Wallace.

I think I just missed his fall as his bike was on it's side and he was nursing some nasty road rash when I first spotted him.

The older, recumbent gent I used to spot all the time but haven't recently. Also a paperbike in the cool place to be spotted, Broughton Street.

A well-kitted out older couple on Bromptons, he with a camera on top of his lid, going from Roseburn Park along Roseburn Place and getting confused by how one would get from the end of the street to the "path" on the pavement opposite.

Better than being on the pavement -

But is it really the best way to deal with a long running diversion??

    Plenty of existing poles.

What would happen if you walked along that road moving every signpost 1m to the right?

    Good question!

Don't expect they'd last there long.

I cycle past those signs most days. That's the least bad option, IMHO; mind you, I always have to move out to the right hand lane, signs or no signs. The presence of the signs effectively makes it one lane all the way to the lights - they might have even made cycling there (vehicular style) slightly easier as drivers will expect you to move out to go round them (while getting out into the right hand lane early, which I find is the best way to ride the junction, is not necessarily what drivers anticipate you doing).

I issued the industry standard greeting to gembo yesterday lunchtime at the Picardy Place Roundabout as we went in opposite directions

Oh! Spotted: the double white lines at the top of the hill on the way out of Balerno have been repainted, woohoo. (Didn't stop White Van Man pulling a dodgy overtake, all the same...)

a gorgeous Claud Butler kiddie back tandem turning off Whitehouse loan onto LW/SMW. looked at least as compact as the helios, but with full size wheels. instead of crank shorteners, it actually had the stoker's pedals/cog set up above the main chain.

Sorry I can't describe better. Rider said it was 'antique' - didn't look that old, but certainly nothing similar coming up on google.

Bike with trailer emerging from Princes Street Gardens (west) onto Princes Street, into a cloud of people who seemingly had no idea whether they were heading into the gardens or over the road or to a nearby bench or bus stop. Occupant of trailer wasn't impressed at something.

Laidback on Helios (I think) pulling a pretty extraordinary filtering manoeuvre on North Bridge borne out of years of practice I expect, beating me who was cowering politely in line behind the busses, and managing to get his right turn onto Chambers Street in before the marauding traffic outside Old College.

Yes... sorry was looking way down at green man phase. Was aware of two bikes in that section of road. Road was clear just long enough. (maybe should be in the bad cycling example?!. Pedestrians risk between cars etc).

Actually I thought it was really well judged - I was thinking of doing the same but didn't have your cojones

A couple with tourers and full-face MTB helmets (the type you can detach the lower part from and use as a regular hat) at Haymarket this evening. She was fully loaded with panniers and he was towing a tourer. They had come up from the "path" through Haymarket Yards and ended up rather confused at the end as it just dissapeared into a mess of buses, taxis and vehicles. They pushed round corner on red (all lights go red here, pedestrians included) as the tram went round and remounted, only for some idiot in a Focus who had got himself marooned in the yellow box at a funny angle to take it upon himself to start yelling at them.

I saw him as well, heading up Morrison Street at the EICC. The full face helmet and trailer seemed a bit incongruous. Didn't see her though.

@kaputnik - I saw both of them too on the NEPN heading out to the FRB. I suspect that's where they've come from...happily enjoying the FRB to Haymarket on the NCN and then hit the traffic and thought WTF!!!

Spotted John Lauder from Sustrans in Roseburn Park at lunchtime, so I stopped and we had a wee chat.

Turned onto Myreside Road from Colinton Road this evening just behind a gent towing a Burley Chariot confidently and at some speed through traffic chaos. His passenger was very chatty, and reminded me of challenges I've had responding appropriately to a piping voice from behind me that I quite can't hear over the wind noise, my thumping heart and the oncoming traffic (which I'm also trying to keep an eye on).

    Was it you?

SRD, magnaton and sallyhinch on MMW - nice to see you all. Felt suitably inspired to do a bit of last minute PoP flyering in Morningside.

@HankChief. I know, I also know that it wasn't Morningsider, Biketrain, Arellcat, Twinspark, SRD, MrSRD, chdot and so on.

For the avoidance of doubt for anyone else, you don't need to answer my question if your answer will be in the negative.
