On my morning run I made some mental notes of the other cyclists I saw. Between roughly 9:45 and 11:00 I encountered :

Three bods, male, all in yellow hi-viz tops, road bikes, heading Telford to Silverknowes. At this point I'd not got my insane/tortured fixed grin ready so there was no exchange of greetings.

One bod, male, on a dark green foldy moulton type bike (I'm sure I've committed all sort of offences with that description...sorry..). Somewhere around Wardie I think (memory issues). Constipated grin now in place and a smile was received in exchange.

Two bods, male, one orange jacket, stopped on West Shore Road having a drink. Can't remember bikes but I had assembled the full Daft Grin by that time and I did manage to grunt a reply to their 'hello'.

Bloke with child (and bike) tethered to the back with one of those big bar things. Bikes looked fairly new. Heading along Silverknowes shore towards West Shore road. No verbal exchanges. There was a similar couple at Cramond but I think they were different from this first father/child pairing.

One bloke, dull (dark green?) sweat stuff and similar baggy 3/4 shorts, MTB (? I think), heading up Barnton Ave from the path between the golf courses. Asked me if I was OK as I gently expired by the side of the road having tried to get up the hill using the big cog on my treble clanger (without realising, obviously...still new to this cycling game, me).

There was also a guy wearing a Sustrans hi-viz top who was in the waiting room at my dentists in DMains on Thursday morning...

Any of these folk posters on here? There were many others, but oxygen deprivation shut down my brain's nonessential RAM at various points on the ride.

Me: male, yellow hi-viz vest over hi-viz gut, white Falcon 2-bob suspensionless MTB, red face (due equally to exhaustion and embarrassment). Occasional indiscreet belches.

Not guilty, although I was out around that way about 2PMish and saw someone pootling around on a dark green Brompton. Mistook it for a Moulton myself at first (can chdot forgive me?) glance because of the appearance of the rear rack.

Saw the family SRD tagalong doing the Waitrose run. Was a "dutch flyer" bike locked outside with the name "the duke" in small letter on the top tube. Didn't have my phone with me to take a snap though.

Saw quite a few folks on my ride to North Berwick and back. One Mr in particular gave me a good smile, yellow Helmet and bar tape.

@Mabs "One Mr in particular gave me a good smile, yellow Helmet and bar tape."

You did well. No-one gave me any accessories on my run...

Apart from his yellow high-visiblity jacket, the most noticeable feature of the bloke who pulled up alongside me at London Road v Abbey Lane was his new feet-retention devices, which allowed him to fall sideways and almost catch his head on my foot when he'd stopped just before the lights changed. He seemed OK when he got up so I wished him good luck and set off.

Spotted Kaputnik on Friday pm whilst on way down Argyle Place on my mini 20 inch wheeled XS recumbent.
Had caught up earlier with him and rtc after their pedal powered radio thing.

His legs couldn't have been that tired as he went by me easily on the MMW mild uphill...! (actually I suspect he could have taken out most other riders there)

Still trying to see if I can spot CCE posters. Out and about between about 10:15 and 12:15 today:

One younger bloke on a Cube (black, with mudguards) around West Shore Road / Silverknowes Esplanade.

Older lady on a trike near the five ways crossing, wearing a pink hat. Didn't look like someone who would post here, but I mustn't pre-judge...

Bloke who arrived at the tea room on Silverknowes Esplanade just after me, greeted as 'Andrew' by the proprietor.

One bloke on road bike on the track between the golf courses at Cramond/Barnton. Heralded his overtaking manoeuvre with a polite 'ping' and an authoritative "On your right...".

I was out on the Dawes today. Black with red/white detail road/city bike. Yellow hi-viz vest and blue skid lid as usual.

Also, was it me or did there seem to be a lot of shattered green glass at various points along the Craigleith - Crewe Toll - Ainslie Park cycle path stretch. Did I miss a party...?

Lady in pink hat on trike must be the most 'spotted' cyclist in Edinburgh! (pictures by chdot elsewhere on site/earlier in thread)

I_M_K Bloke who arrived at the tea room on Silverknowes Esplanade just after me, greeted as 'Andrew' by the proprietor.

He has his regulars. Irene and I made an appearance on a tandem around 2.30. Cafe was quiet but path around Five Ways Junction was very busy with loads of large pram pushers, dog walkers and cyclists.

We saw a handcyclist using a trike with one large front wheel and two small back ones heading East on prom. (Not the usual guy).

Another couple of serious tandemers wearing cycling togs at Cramond.
Lots of other cyclists of all ages and types on prom.

We did manage to hit an out of control spaniel... no damage done. Dog was ok too;-)

Yes, the Esplanade and Cramond was noticeably busier this week compared to last. One drop of sunshine and they all come out, eh? Dogs everywhere too (I like dogs a lot, but I don't like those dog owners who seem oblivious to the need to keep their pets under some semblance of control).

Must go for a run down there myself soon. It's lovely on a sunny evening for an alternative to my daily and dull commute along Corstorphine Road

Probably old news on here, but they're extending the path eastwards from Gypsy Brae. Looked like some enthusiastic cyclists, walkers..and their dogs.. were ignoring the barriers and having a shot on the new tarmac this morning...

maybe, maybe not. was passing a very swish hotel /resturaunt on the grangemouth to kincardine road, just outside grangemouth, grange manor, wallaces tavern on saturday, i think, in lorry. sure that some peeps were heading that way for round the brigs run. Had to be strangers bikes parked outside, no locals would go there, think its rather expensive ! nice though !

Were you riding your Surly? It was your lovely red jacket that I saw from a little way off, which made me wonder if it was you. :-)

What's this, a "who's the lovelier lady cyclist" competition? :) I'm sure you were both equally lvoely this morning!

I saw a woman waiting to pull out of a side street onto Corstorphine Road at Roseburn infront of me, with a big mug of tea in one hand and other hand on the wheel! I moved my hands to the brakes and gave her the "don't even think about it" stare and it seemed to work.

  23. Ah, but was she lovely?

Before deciding who is loveliest between our female CCE contingent I think I need to work out who is most capable of beating me up....

I'd go along with Kaputnik if I were you. ;-)

Double spot on the way home and in almost the same place too! It was indeed my Surly Arellcat. :-)

And of course, I spotted Min again. I can also confirm that her bike has a splendidly loud 'tring tring' bell and a very bright front light!

We would've conducted the spot a little further along South Bridge or Sth Clerk St, but I'd spent a little while earlier on to poke around the buried portal of the Coburg St tunnel.

Turn up anything? (perhaps we need a tunnel poking thread?)

About 0730 this morning the elegantly dressed lady I sometimes see heading for Haymarket Stn with a Brompton surprised me by appearing in full lycra warrior uniform with a Giant Roadbike, is it anyone on here?

I think I spotted alanr rolling along on his ICE trike this morning, just by the Prince Charlie Aqueduct. I, meanwhile, was stuck in traffic somewhere up the hill.
