Yes, it was just between the bus stop by the bridge control and the bridge itself. I can now picture you- that's good.
I know the commuter you mean. A year round chappie who doesn't seem to change gear at all.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Chap on a brompton at haymarket wearing more clothing than I'd normally wear in winter.
Interesting bike on the towpath this morning: singlespeed, possibly fixed gear judging by the fact that I never saw him stop pedalling. Old steel frame, I'd guess. Bright orange handlebars of the pointing-forward track bike kind you often see on fixed gear bikes (don't know the name). SPD pedals, rather than the cages I'd expect from fixie designed for show.
The rider wasn't making any statements with it. It just seemed to be a bike that he'd put a bit of effort into to get the way he wanted (and didn't care what others thought about it) and was riding it with some skill and style but without showing off in any way.
Abellio also promising a tool station to repair your bike as well as bikes for hire
@chdot - your first picture explains why Balcarres Street is closed...
Just come back from a trip along the towpath with Mini-Greenroofer as part of our PfS training. On the way back we spotted Bikefan heading west, a chap on a unicycle dressed (apparently) in a black skin suit, shades and a blue helmet with a light on his wrist (Mini-G said 'awesome', and he did look quite cool, it must be said) and Morningsider walking along Myreside.
Ten miles this morning, her longest continuous ride to date. It included a circuit of the Hailes Quarry Pump Track...
Lots of recumbents at Cramond.
A couple on a tandem powering from Leuchars past Tentsmuir. Fabulous afternoon for it.
Nearly failed to spot DaveC at the "Inspired to Ride" film because he's grown a beard since I saw him last.
Wingpig(?) on Roseburn Path on Friday evening. Quite a turn of speed but some of the most careful and considerate cycling I have witnessed (at a non mudguarding distance behind).
Erm. Halfish-fiveish to sixish? Might have been, if I went that way. I could consult my camera but it's in the pocket of my shorts in my locker downstairs and only has the five minutes preceding anything I thought worth keeping. Ta, if it was. Greeny/yellow short-sleeved H/H top and black ¾ baggies above a brown mudguard with dynolight? Did I turn off at Craigleith or West Granton Access? I remember spotting Dave on a recumbent at North Leith Sands but have been diverting via Silverknowes, Barnton or Cramond.
Yup, that description sounds right. I turned off towards Silverknowes at Craigleith and you went straight on.
Pleasant tootle homeward behind chrisfl this evening as he elegantly demonstrated how to carry two children and quite a bit of stuff on one bike. His rear passenger kept turning round to stare at me, which was quite humorous.
We were being followed by a nice (orange?) Brompton for some of the way.
@Greenroofer - It was good! The rear passenger was asking about "Daddy's Friends" when we went over the Aqueduct this morning.
Recumbent on NEPN near Roseburn Terrace about 6.20 last night. Surely someone here?
Might have been Dave: I saw him recumbulating along North Leith Sands again at about five to six. Giant shades?
Yes, giant shades. Sounds like a positive ID to me.
A touristy-looking Dutch (I listened, non-understandingly, in on their conversation) couple on George Street on some continental style Hybrid bikes, they kept getting on and off at the lights at Hanover Street and looking at the bikes like something was broken (I heard the word "fiets" a lot), but they were probably discussing why the segregated cycle facilities were so broken. Or the city in general.
Arellcat in her red torpedo at Haymarket yesterday evening (strictly speaking, I only saw the back of the torpedo as it queued at traffic lights, I was going the other way.)
Roibeard, arriving at Glasgow central station sans folder and leaving avec folder.
For the parish record, I have accrued one jar of marmalade.
Spotted a chap on barnton avenue today wearing what looked like a one-piece lycra suit which appeared (I think) to have a musculoskeletal-system print on it. I've seen him a few times now and I often do a double take. Am I going mad or has anyone else seen this (and made the same 'print' conclusion). also has long-ish hair and colourful goggles (reminds me of the guy from LMFAO for some reason).
He might even be on here in which case it might be a 'spot' ;-)
Yes, giant shades. Sounds like a positive ID to me.
It can't be me as I wear totally standard cycling glasses.
However, I have switched to recumbent for the run in to the National 400 and Tour o' the Borders, so probably busted.
"giant"???
Sadly there's no photos available of Timmy Mallett on a recumbent for an ID parade
""giant"???
The shade area looks like it extends extensively towards the temples. I'll dig out some footage, but it was definitely you as it was in the right place and had your face and hair on the day it wasn't wearing your cycling cap and your full-ear cans (on the Friday after the not-a-race).
Just now - natty cap Mr. U Bruce.
@Beano - saw him this morning too between the golf courses and have before as well. I like the gear, looks pretty cool!
