This is also a use for Border's Railway topic....

@Fimm Guard was fine - once we had shortened the tandem.

    Wow, cool.
Maybe the audaxers had eaten all the cake by the time we got to the cafe ;-)
Or maybe a mere 40km bike, preceded by a bit of a swim and followed by a gentle jog, doesn't entitle you to much cake...
    ;-)

They might have been bike purists - upset that you broke Rule #42 ?

  4. Aha, I thought that was you wingpig (only caught a glance). Kept expecting you to breeze up to me through the park given the traffic was being held at 20mph for once by a combination of a cyclist ahead and oncoming traffic and a conscientious driver heading our way.

I assumed they already had, so this didn't apply to ME!

That is definitely the weirdest sign I have ever seen. Don't even know why anyone would be cycling up there anyway.

It is just the one cyclist that has to dismount tho. Same as the burger van outside carnwath says Cyclist Welcme.

There is traffic coming down a back alley at John Lewis on to Picardy place at the Conan Doyle pub. It is bad. Not sure why that would mean the cyclist had to dismount tho?

"There is traffic coming down a back alley at John Lewis on to Picardy place at the Conan Doyle pub.'

Yes, coming from the multistory carpark.

There is Scottish Power work blocking the road by the back door to JL, so - at present - the road is 'JL collection point only', therefore two way.

I presume dismount sign is 'for safety of cyclists' (on the road).

There is b all to warn pedestrians about that as well. They just switched the direction of traffic flow and you were left to find yourself being driven at as you walked across.

@Wolmingtrome Held up at the zebra. One moronic pass, but the car in front of me was sticking almost at twenty too.

(oops, sorry for using a naughty word chdot..)

Spotted two days in a row, a man in a suit riding a cargo bike along the North Bridge/Nicolson St type street.

Lots of families on bikes out over the weekend.

I was particularly impressed with the family who had their largest child on a tag-along (I think) on the father's bike, and then two smaller children on the mother's bike, one at the back and one at the front...

Four children in the front of a Bakfiets on the WoL on Sunday afternoon.
Volunteery-looking folk trimming some excess foliage from the Rocheid Path and stuffing it in one of those utes-with-cage things parked on Arboretum Ave.

HankChief passed by as I left the house this morning; he gave me a cheery wave and a ring of the bell.

Forgotten from Friday evening: a bunch of people gathered round someone on the WoL path near Largo Place, some of whom had bicycles and some of whom were dressed in what could be interpreted as either pirate or highwayperson outfits - tricorn hats and suchlike. No idea what that was about.

Good to see Stickman this morning - the commute wasn't going that well until then but a friendly wave does wonders for one's mood.

BTW: Looks @wingpig got the 7,000th post last week.

Do I get a prize for belatedly spotting the spotted thread reaching this milestone?

    No.

You have to wait until 10k.

I wonder if the speed of spotting is speeding up? How long will we have to wait to get to 10k?

I do like that the only tag for the spotted thread is "uberuce"

Nice new Condor that I played tortoise and hare with between Church Hill and Bruntsfield.

He would have easily beaten me off all the lights if he had engaged low gear before stopping at red!

We spotted uberuce's beard on the fair isle man at PY on Friday. The fair isle man had a fair isle sweater, a fair isle hat and a fair isle beard he had hired from uberuce's for the day. Also a cyclist, he nearly said hello but then scowled

@kaputnik and @wingpig, perhaps critical mass had Adam and the ants on their On-U sound system they trail about. Prince Charming?

It was the last Friday of the month, Peter's yard etc. but did seem an early last Friday of the month.

Saw someone with some sort of music coming from them cycling East through the Haymarket- Balbirnie cut-through a bit after 1730 on Friday, so perhaps a late Masser. Sound almost inaudible from in front but very loud to the rear.
