Yeah yeah Brompton
Not mine (which is why seat at inadequate height).
Just testing the gears.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

"I didn't inhale."
@wingpig, it was less the use per se, more the apparently planned expedition to the riverbank with it for this purpose...
Gembo There is another brand I heard tell of who do a rhubarb and custard one. I would like that if anyone reading has them but doesn't like them?
That would be Torq, makers of the only edible gels IMO. I am not a fan of the real rhubarb and custard so never tried them but had them recommended.
I like rhubarb and custard. Usually with the insertion of a layer of crumble between the two but quite like stewed rhubarb and custard. I like rhubarb and custard sweeties. I feel I will like the Torq rhubarb and custard gel too.
They cost a wee bit more than 80p each but you could treat yourself!
yes I will look out for one. Not wanting to buy the whole box for £27 in case they are gash
"Not wanting to buy the whole box"
How's your 'flavour swap' scheme going?
Chatted to @adamthekiwi on the Dunblane train this morning. Bike facilities = one small cupboard but we managed to squeeze 7 bikes on board.
yes I will look out for one.
I will look out too. They used to sell them at the Bike Chain (sigh) but I don't know what the Coop have since I don't require them at the moment.
Flavour swap scheme still open to new members
I have a high proportion. Of pink grapefruit in my stash at the moment due to the 80p deal at decathlon.
I used to see Mark from the bike chain quite often on his commute on the WoL path. Not seen him for a wee while. I was regular customer. Both mark and Colin / Druidh were tolerant of my banter.
Forgot to say that I find myself at the back of a train of ten cyclists heading out of town on the towpath this morning just beyond Kingsknowe railway bridge. I can't remember seeing that many cyclists 'together' on the towpath outside of an organised ride, let alone heading west.
@jdanielp I had the same experience - was that just before 9am?
Mr W. Pig owning the Picardy Place roundabout. I was on the bus so couldn't be reciprocally spotted.
Were you on the bus which the HSS driver to my left (seemingly in the left-turn lane (seeing as I was in the middle of the York Place lane), but playing a funny trick on me and going to York Place) beeped at, unless he was beeping at the Scottish Gas Networks van on my left, which was also beeping?
Yes, I was on the bus that had stopped but then moved forward and blocked access from Elm Row for several seconds. I assumed that was what all the beeping was about.
I hate that left hand lane trick. I used to get it all the time coming from the other direction, so much so that I just started using the left hand lane myself and then moving across to the middle. Stupid really but you gotta do what you gotta do.
@Snowy pretty much... Which one were you? I gradually overtook a few people between there and Wester Hailes while the faster riders disappeared off into the distance. I was in bright Altura green with a Pedal on Parliament flag flying from my rack...
Aha - a retrospective spot then - I was riding behind you, and noted your pop flag !
I was on a black/silver Tricross w black pannier and yellow jacket ...rocking the 'anonymous commuter' look...
@Snowy very good! I don't remember being aware of anybody being behind me at that point. I take it you didn't pass?
arelcat on a non-recumbent, normal-wheel* sized bike
*normal for most people; in our family normal is 20"
I was in disguise as an impostor. :-)
Loved seeing miniSRD's sporty bike and microSRD putting on a sprint towards MMW.
4 bikes at polling station (inc Brompton).
Spotted Murray Moves (but not recombodna) from the bridge as we went up the Restalrig path.
also spotted: far more women than men; far more 60+ cyclists; far more cyclists w/out helmets.
there *is* norrmalised cycling out there; it just gets lost in the commuters.
"there *is* norrmalised cycling out there; it just gets lost in the commuters."
Well yes, as I've said before, different at different times of day.
"far more 60+ cyclists" - I think there are more older new/returning riders - not just lifelong cyclers getting older.
A double kayak on the canal by Bridge 8 this evening occupied by two small identical twin boys with very red hair, paddling in complete synchrony.
Teenage Cycling Ninja Turtle man (green helmet, matching green turtleshell backpack) at Western Corner about lunchtimeish, giving his bike the once-over as if there was something amiss with it.
There seemed to be a lot of bikes having mechanical issues on the towpath last night (for once, not mine). Several punctures, two jumped chains, a couple of indeterminates, and one poor chap whose wheel had eaten his derailleur. Might be a reflection of a lot of machines coming out of hibernation for the first commute in the nice weather...
