Hankchief this morning, pulling his passengerless train. I'd have stopped for a chat, but first day back in the office and I wanted to get cracking. It's about the only time / scenario where I'd be quicker than HC...

Good to see you this morning. Your swift flypast saved me from an unglamorous attempt at trying to keep up...
I have a colleague who I avoid at school drop off because even his 'slow' pace is too much me.

acsimpson on the bridge tonight - always easier to recognise you in summer
I was in the blue jersey, going downhill slower than you were going uphill...

Yes, helmet off and red shirt are a give away. I'm guessing you were the guy who gave me the friendly wave with the yellow hump covering on your backpack?
I thought it was pretty much the middle of the bridge though where things are just as easy in each direction, (although the north easterly wind was probably helping me too).

Yes, that would have been me- it was the flatter part, but you still had a bit to go to reach the apex. The breeze was definitely in my face, but that was payback for a nice tailwind in the morning...

Did I see Fimm leaving the Commonwealth Pool last night, wearing sunglasses?
Posted 8 years ago # -
@kaputnik no.

Had a quick chat with Kaputnik this evening as our commutes intersected at the east end of George Street. Steam trains may have featured prominently in the conversation.

@jdanielp setting off on a hunt for kingfishers (I assume) this evening. I was in disguise on an impractical bike with drop bars and slick tyres. I did have my traditional orange cap on, though.

A big group of Scouts (I think) on bikes who appeared from Crammond Prom, cycled up the hill to the roundabout by the club house and then continued in the direction of the cycle path.
Also a kite surfer.

@Greenroofer it was probably a mite windy for kingfishers. In fact my eyes were watering from the chilly breeze which is part of the reason why I failed to properly spot you in return, although I did at least manage to say "hi" back...

@fimm, well in that case I'm very glad I didn't say "oh, hello fimm!" as I held the door open for "you" - wet hair and sunglasses and what I thought was a Brompton bag made me mistake not you for you, obviously.

Stickman on Riversdale Road.

@kaputnik, that would have been embarrassing.
(Note: I'm most likely to be at the Commie on a Monday. It is very unusual for me to be there any other day.)Posted 8 years ago # -
HankChief and his amazing technicolor bike train.

@Wilmington's Cow
Technically, WC spotted me. We had a brief exchange of pleasantries at a London Road ASL before the lights changed and our paths diverged at Montrose Terrace.

Algo at Argyle Place. Algo's CD in Peter Greens. Was in returning bottles from last night and showing off UA.
Posted 8 years ago # -
@LaidBack - very nice to see you - was running horribly late this morning. Thanks for spotting the CD - it nets me considerably more than spottify, but that's not difficult.
Nice chat with SRD last night sporting fancy new bike apparently borrowed from miniSRD mk 1.

@ECT - in fairness it was the bike I spotted first then realised I recognised it :)

Four water bikes on the canal east of Ratho this afternoon. They were meandering along in the sunshine and seemed to be having a very nice time.

Chambers Street - did it open on time?
Posted 8 years ago # -
No:
"@edintravel Chambers St - closed until further notice due to unforeseen problems with resurfacing this past weekend. #edintravel twitter.com/edintravel/sta…"
Posted 8 years ago # -
"unforeseen problems"
Perhaps related to whatever is underneath that causes the surface to continuously collapse!!
Posted 8 years ago # -
They were hard at the resurfacing in Chambers Street yesterday afternoon, but pretty much the entire length needs doing still, at the east end it's just a protective membrane, middle section is scraped back and the west section was getting its lower surface of tar.
I've never seen the membrane being used before, it looked kind of like agricultural sacking in consistency.
Given they were still digging out the top surface at the west end, they must be terribly behind schedule.

White lines repainted yesterday.
CEC obviously given up on red surfacing (apart from the chipped variety).

I spotted that bike later on at the wee bridge near Dalmeny.

An Urban Arrow outside the Maddie & Mark's shoe shop in Bruntsfield (the shop where if you have to ask how much the shoes cost you're probably in the wrong shop).
Very nice shoes though. Very nice bike too.
