" It looked like a Moulton (lots of thin tubes) but with bigger wheels."
Some have 20" wheels - mostly (but not only) the Pashley made ones.
P.s. Moultons don't 'fold'.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

you obviously need a bigger hammer :)
@kaputnik
You obviously need to consider the s word.
Arellcat just passed the calley ale house.
Ruggtomcat on his new wheels, showing the traffic queuing westbound along Melville Drive the proper way to get about town.
Steve, that was me alright, heading to Biketrax to buy some spokes. I would've waved if knew what you look like. :-)
I sort of spotted chdot at Waitrose on my way home. I actually spotted the gunmetal grey Moulton parked outside and presumed.
Spotted a recumbenteer cycling up George IV bridge this evening who was also holding/pushing an empty recumbent alongside. A skilful thing to do and he quite rightly looked pleased with himself.
I should imagine it was LBB but as I haven't ever met him I cannot be certain?
I sometimes check the bikes in Tesco or wherever "just in case" they've done a fork fail.
Today, persistence paid off;
@ Kaputnik - maybe they just thought it would be more aero with the brakes behind the fork!
Bloke sitting outside Peter's Yard (with bike), enjoying the sun and watching the bikes go by with evident enjoyment/fascination.
miggy_magic holding/pushing an empty recumbent alongside.
Yes.. totally illegal I'm sure. Riding two abreast with only one bike occupied etc. Guilty as charged. I don't do it more than once week. Just that pavements are crowded and there is a bus lane.
ohohoh, is the SL in yet?
Passed my dad coming out of the Dell Sorting office at Slateford (in the car) didn't see him again. That'll be worth a gloat later. He's not great to gloat over because he generally has a longer ride than me but he must have been picking something bulky up from the post office, but still its the thought that counts...
I saw Il Pirata this morning, bald guy with a goatee beard on a road bike. :-)
There was a girl with a pannier heading west along Marionville Road this morning combining an Edinburgh Triathletes top with a pair of those calf-length hairy boot things. Couldn't see if she had a chainguard or not.
rtc ohohoh, is the SL in yet?
Sure is. Not had much chance to ride but nice and light to push alongside other bike. I could bring tomorrow to PY.
wingpig Couldn't see if she had a chainguard or not. There's hope for you then!
woohoo! (SL stands for 'supa leggera' btw) I will save my legs today then for some hill bashing tomoro.
Is that the shiny trike you had parked outside the bike works yesterday? it looked like fun!
Passed a recumbent yesterday on the meadows path, I said "Ey-up give me 5" and we high fived each other.
Was this you Recombodna?
Sorry no not me. I don't do recumbents ( despite my forum name being slightly recumbent esque.....it's a Devo thing really) I would Always respond positively to a high five request though :-)
Hmmm maybe Dave then? My memory for names<->faces sucks :(
Further to @miggy_magic's post, I too spotted LaidBack on George IV Bridge yesterday evening. He was heading northbound at about 6.20pm. However, didn't notice him pushing a second recumbent and he didn't look particularly pleased with himself (smiling on the inside perhaps?). Maybe I spotted him before or after his two-recumbent escapade...
Ah, Laidback that might be who I high 5'd
Or rather low fived... Well, high for him, low for me.
Is there a middle 5?
@BicycleLegal - it was Tuesday when I spotted LaidBack and his 2nd bike. I wonder why he wasn't so chipper yesterday evening...? Perhaps the chancellor raised taxes on recumbents?
Is there a middle 5?
I believe it's "to the side"
Perhaps the chancellor raised taxes on recumbents?
Or it was the extra couple of pence on a pint at diggers?
No high-fives on my behalf, I'm afraid. Not that I would be against it, if I had enough notice!
"Sure is. Not had much chance to ride but nice and light to push alongside other bike. I could bring tomorrow to PY."
Curse you! I was planning an extended commute tomorrow, but perhaps I will have to be at PY instead :-)
I don't have much to show and tell, although I have just fitted a Big Apple to the front of mine in an attempt to increase my striking speed on the towpath.
Seen the same recumbentist on the way home 2 nights out of the last 3 - last night going over Brunstane Bridge. Dismounted incidentally, not cycling over it - no doubt sensitive to bridge wear and tear issues - as was I and other chap who was on an orange Genesis bike. Didn't High/Low 5 but did utter greeting. Might go for the 5s tonight though. He had long grey hair and beard, bike was green (I think). Anyone here?
Yet to meet another bent rider! except by design. spotted quite a few pink campag caps recently, on the heads of the youth.
Saw a grey bearded gent at the supermarket West of Haymarket, wearing a yellow hi-vi jacket and cycling a black trad gents bike with an interesting looking frame, don't know what age the bike was but it had the white blackout panel on the bottom of the mudguard :-)
