Andy Wightman is a very serious man.
Indeed. I am delighted to see him in our parliament and will be overjoyed when he learns just enough genial banter to stay there.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Always had good banter with Andrew burns on towpath, e.g.
Gembo: white trousers, councillor burns? Not a bit risky?
Andrew: I was hoping for sunshine

Come now, he's just not used to wearing a suit and tie.
I can confirm that I've seen Andy Wightman smile. Maybe even on two separate occasions.
@IWRATS - did you see Andy Wightman's inaugural speech at the Scottish Parliament - I may be misremembering, but I seem to remember it contained a reasonable degree of wit. Deadpan is perhaps how I would describe him.
@algo
I didnae. I've seen him speak elsewhere though and he's very funny in an almost anydrous way.
I want him to stay in parliament, and hope he loosens up a bit one on one. He's a clever, decent introvert I think.
A painted lady on my buddleia. (?Oops, wrong thread)
@gembo I hope that it was intended for a new euphemisms thread.
Councillor Andrew Burns gave way to me on the towpath (which still isn't closed) this evening. I thanked him.
@jdanp, wildlife. Some huge flutterbies in the garden, red admirals, peacocks, and mid size painted ladies and whites
Recumbent rider/pusher approaching the top of the hill of the B924 to Dalmeny Estate Entrance (yesterday evening ~6-6.15pm). I was the guy in the bright orange T-Shirt who reached the top about the same time as you.
Anyone on here?
@wc's kingfisher photae on the bbc website

@Morningsider at the very epicentre of the eponymous neighbourhood.
Mr Laidback Bikes on a recumbent bike at the King's Theatre junction deep in conversation with the pilot of a recumbent trike. I am on a bus to the station...
...to catch a train to London whence I shall ride a bike home over the course of the next few days.

Haste ye back, @Greenroofer.
Good luck @greenroofer.
I spotted my recently loaned trailer being towed by NiallA on the NEPN this afternoon.
Good to see it being used and a happy customer inside it :-)
Nice to see you, HC. Hope your stoker was able to assist on the hill!
"Just keep pedalling..."
Had a nice chat with Suzanne at the Cycling UK stand at Ingliston this afternoon. PfS was pretty busy.
Then I bumped into a customer of Laid Back, but I had completely forgotten his name. I think he has a black recumbent trike, maybe an Azub.
Did not spot any of the PfS 100 milers coming through Balerno this afternoon. What was the route this year?
Because of finishing at Ingliston they came off the Lang Wang at the wigwams, so missed out on the delights of Balerno.
I however was pass by the Fietsclub Balerno at the bottom of the Granites. The yellow club tops were new to me so I had to look them up.
Well Hank chief I was going to mention this but you said you saw no one? I would have been there trailing off the back if it had not been for the fact that I was focused on my better half's birthday. Frankly, I also thought it was a bit windy but you did not mention that either, it was all beautiful sunrises etc. :-)

Empathise that the EV charging situation sucks if you aren't in a garaged home to build your own charging point, but this can't be the way.
Oh I saw this thing yesterday on Edina Place. Parked parallel to the kerb, I note it takes up no less space than a small-to-medium sized internal combobulation engined car. The hatch for the charging leads doesn't have a lock and someone had clearly opened it and had a wee look inside.
Ooft! I just zoomed in on the image and saw the cable comes out a first floor window!
Hoping beyond hope that the vehicle belongs to Lothian's rescued cats, who swarm down the cable and into the cabin before driving off to the seaside for a snooze.
Nice chat with chrisfl as we headed west on the towapth this morning, with occasional observations from Magnus.
Group of about 12 people heading through Roseburn this morning all wearing matching green tops. Realised later that it's the group from my work who are doing "Pedal to Pudsey" in aid of Children In Need.
I spotted them too, further along at Crammond Brig, with their 2 'event' motorcycles on the path too!
Didn't realise they had motorbikes!
Spotted a noir bakfiets Urban Arrow coming off Dublin street cliff face climb and then following me up St Andrew St North. Enclosed cargo box without children. Defo power assist!
