Was walking along Lanark road west with number one son about 7pm tonight oncoming cyclist with very bright light. I wonder who that is I said to no 1 son. Ah, wait it is Mr SRD and then I explained about being knocked off the podium by Bill.

So Lloyds/Bank of Scotland have their Tour de Pudsey on just now for Children on Need and RBS are simultaneously doing a London to Edinburgh for Princes Trust. The routes might collide somewhere in the lake district...
It can only be good news that big employers are getting behind their employees taking on cycling challenges.
More please...

"It can only be good news that big employers are getting behind their employees taking on cycling challenges."
Only if companies (and riders) relate it to riding bikes and not just 'charity'/employee relations (or whatever it is called).

Dave C - Spotted a noir bakfiets Urban Arrow coming off Dublin street cliff face climb
Not the EdFoC one as that has been in shop for last two days. Good to hear someone is using it on direct hilly routes. Can't imagine wanting to take it up there unpowered.

Saw chdot cycling down Clerk Street this afternoon.

Spotted my first Bakfiets out in the wild of West Edinburgh doing the school/nursery run.
I shouted 'nice bike' at the rider(s).

@HankChief: there's one tethered outside the zoo quite often. Wonder if it's the same one?
More importantly, was the compliment returned?
Posted 8 years ago # -
@Hank I see one semi-often between Gylemuir and Broomhall areas, comes through the cut-through to Dovecot Road which must be quite a challenge.

I saw a single file group of 6 teenage girls today cycling on Grange Loan, possibly coming from JGHS.
Posted 8 years ago # -
@kaputnik - it was heading that way and with your 'more relaxed' morning routine the timings probably mean it was the same.
I note your bin at Dovecot cut-through hasn't moved
Posted 8 years ago # -
@Hankchief I, and others, have moved it out the way now and again, it's always back again the next time I pass. Reckon it's a cranky local who passes that way a lot, like multiple times a day. Dog walker?

Unbranded Urban Arrow outside Cycle Service an hour ago... with groceries in a pannier and not the box? :o

Lady commuting home on a bright orange brand new fat bike in the Inch. Heard her coming 50 metres away with the knoblies. Tiring?

Kaputnik on Wednesday morning at Ballgreen. I was wearing Hi viz but was disguised as a driverist. Couple of minutes later let Handcheif and the chieflets cross over in front of me near Western Corner.

A side-by-side two person trike heading off along the NEPN from Cannonmills.

Hankchief, I'm suprised you haven't seen a Bakfiets out and about before. There's one based in the next street to you which attended POP. I guess they leave the house a little later than you usually do.

Many cyclists on L2E charity ride heading east through East Calder.

Now a joint cycle/ped crossing -

Lilac-helmet lady on the tow path this evening, first time for ages. I waved, but she completely blanked me. I hope this is because I was in full MAMIL mode with h*lmet, dark shades and lycra, and riding a road bike, rather than the cloth cap, baggy shorts and commuter bike that she's more familiar with.

@ Greenroofer how did the ride home from London pan out?
Posted 8 years ago # -
@gembo - very pleasant indeed: it's highly likely that it was the same ride that @biketrain spotted earlier. The weather for the past five days has been glorious for cycling up from London via Birmingham and Manchester (although we could have done without 28C on the Kirkstone Pass, or a headwind all the way from Carlisle).

Nice descent though from top of kirkstone if heading north?
Posted 8 years ago # -
@Greenroofer
Surely a ride worthy of a wee write-up?

@IWRATS: are you sure that wasn't a low-sugar hallucination from the end of your 7 Hills ride?
Posted 8 years ago # -
@Stickman
He seemed real enough. I once had a full-on hallucination not far from there when running the Seven Hills. It seemed real at time too mind.
