woman (driver) with her trousers round her ankles taking a pee at the side of Cramond Brig as I passed this morning. Queueing traffic must have got too much. the look on her face as I passed...priceless

    @Beano

Last week I was bicycling in Gleann Einich when I hailed a couple who'd put their bikes down to sit and admire the view.

It was only as I passed that I noticed that the lady had her top pulled up to allow the gentleman to admire her physique.

It's a circular ride and they caught us up a couple of times, but kept their distance and didn't stop to revel in the wild scenery at the far point. Sometimes you just can't undo what's been seen.

Half spotted the last of the late shift (possibly Shuggiet and Min?) through the windows of Peter's Yard as I was cycling past. Couldn't stop as I was late for work.

Good spot though the window at a distance while moving!

I also managed a Wingpig spot yesterday for the first time in ages.

A well-used but still nice looking Kona Caldera B18 locked up at Cameron Toll. Nice bike, but it seems to have got there....without a chain. Does the rider take it off for extra security?

Perhaps another thief's trick, like adding an extra lock?

Possible, didn't think of that. More likely that someone's chain broke, so they locked their bike up as they walked home to fix it. That's what I'd do, anyway.

Would it freak them right out if I put a spare chain on it? Guerrilla mechanical style.

Kim Harding ascending St Leonard's in Holyrood Park. Got a jolly wave :)

Many many large groups of bushwhackers and mountain rescue teams in and about the Innocent Path and Holyrood Park. Presume a volunteer search in connection with the missing French student.

@chdot was that small piece of dental floss the only lock on it? Assume the owner was never out of eyeshot in which case.

E-bike hauling a trailer across Picardy Place roundabout, it had a large clear box on the back with what looked like lots of cooking ingredients. The rider had a red and white cycling top for some forgotten 80s retro European cycling team.

I found that sign above baffling. The A68 is tremendously hostile, but legally you are well within your rights to take your life in your hands and ride on it.

There's nothing indicating to a cyclist if you join it at the Salter's Road junction and head down the way towards the A720 that the only option is to go back the way you came. But they've gone to the trouble of putting this sign at the bottom of the hill! (It should be at the top).

We escaped the automageddon using a Chdot secret tradesman's exit over a fence and across some fields. We cycled alongside the bypass on a rutted access road at one point, amusingly we were going faster than the queue of cars to our left.

Boffof and I were in that queue at one point - though we didn't see any cyclists.

I agree that no cyclist that knows the area would cycle down to that junction - but you are legally allowed to ride down there so I guess they have to provide some information when you get there. Are there no signs stating that cycling is banned from the bypass further up?

There are some estate roads in the Dalkeith Palace Grounds that go beneath the road and can connect you with civilisation again. Incidentally they are now promoting some of these as cycling routes (http://www.dalkeithcountrypark.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Dalkeith-Orientation-Map-2ppA4-AW-ONLINE.pdf ). And with a Google/OS/OpenMap you should be able to find your way out to Old Craighall.

At the road access, but no indication that there was no road other than the A720 if joining (completely legally) the A68 northbound.

There is one sign (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.9091087,-3.04651,3a,75y,158.9h,95.64t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1stA4_wNhKtmChgnKZsnmw1w!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) but it's not replicated on all approaches and it doesn't make it clear that following the A68 north leads you into this trap.

The 'point' of course (and why we went yesterday) was to see what massive opportunity was lost when they build the bypass without properly considering cycling (Spokes pointed out some possibilities).

Various things could still be done.

Looking at the current Google satellite image for the A68/720 junction is particularly instructive as it shows all the tracks constructed for the major building work.
