Old guy with big white beard and sinewy legs shouting at someone who had apparently pressed the #@*£& button and run away at the ped crossing beside the Filmhouse. Most vexed the fellow seemed, judging by his manner.

FIMM in Haymarket walking with her Brompton and purpose! Was going to say hi but I was at the other end and on the phone.

Spotted AlanR recumbinating into town on Colinton Road this morning, and immediately after I was spotted by Angelo the cross-Canada guy on his recumbent.
I spotted a whole lot of hi-viz on MMW this evening. It turned out to be Safer Streets and the Police. They were stopping cyclists who didn't have any lights, and giving out both visibility/safety advice and free emergency bike lights. I had a good chat with Emma from SS and we complained about modern super power bike lights that people forget project a cone of light and don't point them down. I suggested she mention it to the Police as advice to give.
I was then blinded by someone walking their bike and wearing a searchlight strength headtorch that was switched to 'seizure' mode.
Safer Streets will be at KB next week I believe.

After passing a smart looking vehicle waiting at the red light as I proceeded into the ASZ on Bristo Place, I was then surprised by the distinct lack of noise from behind as I pulled away onto Lothian Street when the light went green, given that I was half-expecting that the driver would have been irritated by my having manoeuvred into the space in front of them. Shortly afterwards a Tesla Model S overtook me at a respectful distance and speed.

Spotted today two people undertaking a survey at the Portobello end of the western promenade.
They were there again yesterday and today. Been lovely crisp cycling weather the last three days, wonder how much impact that will have on the count.

That lovely green Pedersen bike at Cameron Toll again. Modern running gear (black Alfine hub, Deore brakes, Stronglight crank and Exposure front and Cateye rear light) on an exquisite old school frame.
Also, the gigantic Maine Coon cat was hanging about again. I think it does security for the bike racks part time.

Morrisons on Gilmerton Road?

Yuk. Any proper bike parking? I didn't get to bike there last week and didn't have time to look around but didn't spot any obvious cycle-parking near the 'steel' car park.

I was at Restoration Yard not long ago, too, and wasn't impressed with the bike parking. However, the log does have metal rings set into it, so you can at least lock your bike to it after a fashion.
I didn't know this in advance, which was why I ended up resorting to infernal combustion to get there.

"Morrisons on Gilmerton Road?"
No, Hay Av just outside Bingham Tunnel.

Dalkeith Park - only cycle parking I saw.
I'll put stuff on DP thread but there have been some changes (since I was there last) - notably the opening of the Edinburgh Gate.

Haymarket Station bike racks -

The rest of the Greenroofer family have just returned from a trip out where they saw one of Micro-Greeroofer's friends, his friend's little sister and his dad all on the same bike. It was very impressive apparently, with the two children in front and dad behind. When I asked what kind it was, I was told 'bright green', and that they weren't sitting in a box, but rather in line astern.
So what kind of bike was it? I'd love to know.

Possibly...
http://www.workcycles.com/home-products/child-transport-bicycles/onderwater-family-tandemI have quoted in past but never sold one (yet). Comes via Azor company producers of the Bakfiets.nl Similar sort of weight.
Helios of course now do a triple version which can convert between tandem and triple.Posted 8 years ago # -
@LB thanks for this. I'd hoped you might have an expert opinion on this topic. I've checked with the witnesses and they've confirmed it was something very similar, at least.

Tiny balance bike locked up with all the others at Waverley station as I was passing through on Monday

Man on an old school red tricycle going east on the B701 this morning. I was admiring a similar bike (or perhaps even the same bike) on Sunday at the Bearsway ride too.

Passed a guy cycling through Haymarket with two skis jammed into his backpack.

@Stickman riding in front of me on St John's Road this morning.
I tried to accelerate to catch up but alas my legs weren't up to the task.

Lilac Helmet Lady on the Slateford Aqueduct this morning. As I moved to the side to allow her to push her bike past me, I asked whether she had spotted the kingfisher last week. She hadn't, but she had at least understood what I said to her and doesn't seem to think that I'm a lunatic (although she was perhaps just humouring me until she was able to make her escape). She said that she tried looking but was concerned about cycling into the canal - scanning the far bank for kingfishers definitely requires practise.

Fellow insomniac at 5.30 in the morning heading towards Edinburgh as I was heading back to Stow on the A7. Didn't see him/her, only saw a large bright light going the other way. Assume it was the same view for them looking at me!
Very cold, frost everywhere, beautiful clear starlit sky.
