A tasteful arc of non-blinding lights coming from head of rider heading towards Kings Theatre on Gilmore around 9am.

Then realised this was the new helmet being worn by SRD.

It worked. I'll need to see the indicators in action!

Yesterday on the Stenhouse path, a father and young child (about 4) looking very pleased with their brand new Decathlon bikes. The dad was on one of their upright city bikes with a basket.

I was very impressed with Decathlon's city bikes. £200 up, bargain.

The only slightly weird thing I thought was providing a bottle dynamo for a front halogen light. For the price point a battery LED front (like they give on the rear) would seem far more sensible.

@gem-bo!gem-bo!gem-bo! Tucked in the rear pocket of the right pannier. Plenty of time to have spotted it as a gingerly turned across the slippery cobbles...

gembo, for only the second time in recent weeks on the canal towpath. Our high five was quite theraputic given that I was reeling from the close pass on Gilmore Place.

A torpedo encased Arrelcat crossing Melville drive, much to the excitement of the toddler in the pram in front of me.

On Sustrans Route 1 between Wester Balgedie and Strathmiglo a 40mph sign with a further sign underneath, stating "Walking and Cycling Friendly Road"

Sadly within a mile as I crossed back from Perth and Kinross into Fife the same road turned into a 60mph free for all.

Four lads all on sit up and beg bikes in a convoy, no helmets, not sure about lights, all proceeded to park in the new bike shed at LIDL in Gorgie. I was disguised as passenger in car with bike and fourteen bottles of wine in boot whilst driver was in LIDL buying 140 chocolate lollies

My eyes initially refused to process the scene, but what appeared to be an adult cycling a BMX bike along the pavement at Kalpna's with a big, weird, low-slung rucksack turned out to be a parent giving a child a backie on the child's bike. Pretty sure drink had been taken, possibly by both of them.

Did I pass @jdanielp on a cycle path in his work site at about 4.30 this evening? He heading north, me south. He thoughtfully turned off his main light for me.

My light doesn't illuminate faces, so I only recognised him (if him it was) out of the corner of my eye as we passed.

Five people dressed as Santa Claus cycling shambolically east on the B9128 towards Forfar yesterday afternoon.

Also, in Westburn Park Aberedeen, a Ridgeback MX4 26 inch mountain bike fitted with a Surly 29 inch rigid fork and a tagalong. People do odd things to bikes.

Possible spot of Hankcheif, well his bike really, rolling into RBS Gogar burn. BOFFOF and I were on the top deck of a bus.

Their plans include creating an aluminium wheel manufacturing facility...

@Greenroofer yes, that was me. Apologies that I failed to recognise you yet again. I now have brand new rechargable batteries installed in my front light, which I am hoping will improve its durabilty - it had taken a nose dive by the time I started using it this autumn so I was having to recharge every day, but it was getting to the point that I was running the light in flashing mode until I reached the canal to get the most from the light on the darkest section. This was the main reason that I chose to switch it off because the flashing mode is fairly nasty.

Graham @HartsCyclery doing child transportation in style on his Gazelle Cabby - versatile bakfiets with lots of accessories.

Heading at 'Hart speed'* along Gilmore towards Kings around 9.30.

    * same speed as electric assist but using leg power only :-)

After coming out of (very good) Bevy Sisters concert at Traverse I saw what looked like a folding bike coming up Lothian Rd.
Turned out it was a Helios tandem - two adults going quite quickly. Good rear light on the rack.

@Laidback - That was us! Took advantage of visiting Grandparents to make use of some vouchers for dinner at Kyloe, you spotted us on the way to Cloisters for a quick drink before heading home.

The difference in power and speed possible with an Adult Stoker is quite something, and Rachel told me that she only had to close her eyes twice last night.

Strava tells me that I have logged 994 km on the Helios this year, so we will have done over a 1000km logged since we picked it up back in June.

Tandem with two riders going up from Viewforth, being gained on by SRD with the cool helmet. I was shepherding a pedestrian 7yo and a scooting 3yo on the pavement which is a surprisingly big speed differential.

Where have all the cars gone??

Removed (don't know if any had to be lifted) just for repainting the lines.

    Or rather not spotted....

Was in the Argyle Bar last night to meet some people about a non-cycling matter but Option A came up. One of those present turned out to be a weel-kent councilor. Ah, says he, are you part of chdot's shady forum? I keep an eye on that. Yes says I. What is your handle says he. IWRATS I say. Never heard of you says he. I like HankChief and SRDs stuff says he. I agree with him and change the subject.

Aye RATS easy to work out which Cllr that was.

You should have told him your full name.

Shame he's stateless and likely to be unemployed next year.

Yes, my roman-à-clef skills could do with a polish. I didn't expect to ever meet him and I'm glad I have.
