@hankchief, sounds like a flying start?
Is the flying fox still there? I used to love that. I mean my children used to love that when they were younger, I never went on it, that wasn't me.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Have a guess what they're building opposite the Fruitmarket Gallery next to the City Art Centre. Edinburgh Science Centre as promised 20 odd years ago (and formerly emblazoned on a plaque in the car park/gap site)? Nope.
Yet another Luxury Hotel...
@crowriver, we have been talking about that site and the tunnel and the pipes. How can all these hotels manage to have enough occupancy to turn a profit? No mention of Edinburgh in guardian guide to 2017 destinations? But maybe by 2050 Edinburgh will be one big world heritage theme park?
Spotted: a bike. On the roof rack of a car. Which was in one of the car showroom places you can see from the train on the way to Edinburgh Park.
Bikes as lifestyle marketing material indeed.
Chap in a reflective jacket sitting down inside the roundabout next to St James centre (Leith side) with his bike by his side at about 18:30 last night. Looked like two people were attending to him. I was in traffic and didn't see him until I was exiting so didn't stop. Whoever it is hope he was alright!
Came down saughton mains this morning en route to Brpoughton Primary and turned right to head to Roseburn. Just at the point where the former garden of Capability Scotland HQ Mansion would have reached the glasgow road {the mansion is on Ellersley Road] I SPOTTED WHAT APPEARS TO BE A STATUE of two highwaymwen?
Anyone seen that?
Then about 11 a.m. I was coming in the basement of Waverley Court and looked up to top of Jacob's Ladder and there was a chap with bare torsop sitting on ground next to rock outcrop with a lot of grafitti on it.
I've been down Corstorphine Road countless times in the last 10+ years. Not once have I noticed that statue. How odd.
It's very noticeable if you sit at the front of the top deck of buses on that route. Rather more hidden from ground level though.
Thanks stickman, those do be the boys. Neither resemble the David Balfour nor Allan breck Stuart of my head.
@frenchy me too, linkee suggests there since 2004?
What I've realised was a crash by a vehicle swinging around the corner from meadows to pass summerhall - they skidded and hit the barrier and bounced back out - big dent in the side door. I suspect based on the fact that I heard the bang as the green light changed the person was a bit beyond the amber gamble...
Dude grinding a cross bike towards the summit of Braid Hill from the east. I'd be impressed if he got it down the west side without incident.
Just now
Rolling motorcycle escort for police car and other vehicle northbound Morningside Road.
Spotted the big muscle guy Adam who wanders round town in his gym kit in all weathers in Jeffrey Street, topless.
Looked at me in my winter coat and roared 'HA HA HA! NIPPLES!' before going peacefully about his business.
Him with the bandana, 2L bottle of water and hiking boots?
@Frenchy
Yup. The same.
Also, unconnected, spotted some kind of retro-recumbent outside Lidl on the Bridges. Looked like a hand-built frame from maybe twenty years back. Old skool.
EDIT:
Bike Station used to have one.
A meteor just fell East towards Arthur's Seat as spotted from Fountainbridge.
@jdanielp
Make a wish.
One of those standup / elliptical bikes mixing it with the buses on South Bridges. Not really very visable, more/better lights needed and some hi-viz.
@IWRATS done.
Pretty sure BS one was early on of these -
So Edinburgh.
Where?
Reported?
Gilmerton Road southbound, north of Kingston Road. (@Frenchy watch out...)
Thoroughly Clarenced.
Thought it looked like Gilmerton Rd...
Not a section of road I use on an everyday basis, but it must have deteriorated very quickly in the last few weeks to be that bad without me noticing it before. I think I've reported a pothole around just about every other drain on that road, but not that one. Thanks for reporting!
Oops focus fail.
