@Hopey How orange is the bike?
DaveC on the NEPN, not wheeling anyone.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Someone preparing to film some bicycle-stunts in Festival Square.
Talking of bicycles and stunts, I took this snap through the barricade of the Avengers filming setup on the Waverley Station concourse. These bikes and stands have been in place for the last week or so. Now they appear to have been artfully smashed:
Is Bicycle Repair Man one of the Avengers?
Avengers are Marvel. Bicycle Repair Man is DC.
Bicycle Repair Man!
I thought Bicycle Repair Man (yes I know Arellcat..) was Python not DC?
@DaveC indeed, although he lives in a world of Superpeople and Superman is a DC character. Well, that was my logic...
Reported a pothole to Clarence earlier today.
Went past an hour later and it was fixed!
Morningsider overtaking me as I stopped in Bruntsfield just after one of those embarrassing moments when I forgot which way to shift on my new bike and ended up in entirely the wrong gear.
Piranello high on the wall of Laboratorio Esspresso West Nile St Glasgow today. Across from Evans who used to display their Italian bikes one at a time on the wall. When Evans stopped stocking Italian bikes the owner acquired his own one. As well as being very high up the wall it also has no pedals. He ain't taking no chances with dem weegees
This morning, two women heading downhill on Comiston Road near Braidburn Shell Station, both apparently wearing tinsel hula skirts alongside otherwise fairly normal cycling gear.
Lots to spot this morning:
@jdaniel p, that cat is there a lot, I think maybe tabby rather than tiger? But I am with you in talking to the animals. Said hello to a very cheeky chihuahua yesterday. Mrs G is dead against conversing with the beasts
@gembo indeed it is - you are probably right that it's a tabby. I also say hello to the swans, I sometimes say hello to the ducks too - it gives me a sense of enormous well-being. And then I'm happy for the rest of the day, safe in the knowledge there will always be a bit of my heart devoted to it.
But jdanielp it is a canal, not a park ;-)
I sometimes say hello to the ducks too - it gives me a sense of enormous well-being
Amen to that brother. In the summer I stop to allow the ducklings to irradiate me with their innocence. I also address any cat or sparrowhawk that I see. It's talking to them that leaves me needing to bask in innocence.
Actually, to be precise, I usually quack 'hello' to the ducks but say "hello" to the swans because I can't speak 'swan'.
Had a very pleasant conversation with a grouse yesterday, he asked after me I said, yes I was okay thank you.
While taking a colleague and prospective cycle commuter on a tour of the cycle facilities at work, I spotted another CCEr (who I won't name, on the grounds of protecting his privacy) doing the same with two other colleagues.
...actually, maybe this should be in the 'more of us' thread too.
"actually, maybe this should be in the 'more of us' thread too"
Good idea - when they do do.
Hope your various colleagues are being reminded about/made aware of -
@chdot - Oh yes, we link to the site and recommend that people start on Fridays. In fact one said today that 'the stars were aligned' for his first cycle commute in 13 years to be this Friday.
"first cycle commute in 13 years to be this Friday"
Great!
Hope they are on Twitter...
Must have been something in the water as I gave a guided ride in from Roseburn to another colleague and also gave them a tour of the facilities today.
The more the merrier I say...
Possible stop of Uberuce at Roseburn park this morning.
It was the Bull horned single speed that led me to believe it was him.
Traa-eer Factory on the way in.
We saw a contractor/cooncil Transit Pickup taking no prisoners on the NEPN as we passed Blackhall.
And on Sunday in Fife, a bobby on the beat, and on a bicycle no less!! And I live in deepest Suburbia!
I have only missed a high-five with gembo (as in I didn't see him to be able to high-five as opposed to going for a high-five but failing to connect (which has happened a few times)) yesterday morning on my commutes so far this week.
I also spotted Green Councillor Gavin Corbett yesterday morning and Labour Councillor Andrew Burns this morning.
@jdanielp, true but I side fives another chap I know when I missed you yesterday.
@Dave, impassive behind large shades heading west at speed on the towpath this evening. I was travelling home very slowly on the Elephant Bike (which is very good for going slowly on), feeling unwell and seeing if I could keep my heart rate below 80bpm.
